Future R2
We strongly agree - No brainer - hold number two bring on the winner
With the GA factory back on track, launch them both same time! They showed they can do it when R1S/T and EDV came to market. Seems to be a make or break moment for them long term....go big. The demand is there for the lower price points and they have built an AMAZING brand that is truly unique.

I wouldn't call it "back on track," my understanding from announcements about the conditional loan approval is that vehicles won't start rolling off the line in Georgia until 2028, and that's assuming the loan goes through without a hitch.

Right now R2 is scheduled to start coming off the line early 2026.

The Horizon won European Car of the Year in 1979, ahead #2 Fiat and #3 Audi 80. And look at the surrounding winners - the Porsche 928 won the previous year. Pretty impressive when you put it in that persepctive.

That funky campy Cold War look, the size, and being our new best brand are the top three reasons we will stand in line for the 3.
Til
Thenā€¦..
A distant cousin clone will be sharing a driveway and a plug with our T in a few hours.
While the forthcoming 3 may be a bit peppier, the I5 charging from 10-80% in 18 minutes is a tough act to follow.
Our daughters 5 gets that result in the Boston winter so itā€™s real world.
We didnā€™t opt for the 5N - that wanna-have Screaminā€™ Korean buggy goes for more than our T was in ā€˜22!
It could be the throwback design of things to come - and we are so hooked on flush handles that we snicker at the ugly protrusions so prevalent today the way we have at the ugly opulent grilles, headlights, and taillights missing from both of our choices.
Should Rivian Partner with Hyundai?
Almost a deal breaker was the bizarre driver screenā€™s display - itā€™s a landing strip between two air terminals
Update after pick up
Conveniently for them, the pitch-the-scotchgard-and-ceramic cubicle is near their tempting flagship 700 hp N model, but we stuck with the base - slower off the line, but 30% more range and not the $68k we paid for our LE T

Rivian's got a real winner on its hands but I expect Chinese manufacturers to pick up on the design and bring copycats to market early.
Letā€™s hope not šŸ˜–

I saw the R2 and R3 at the Denver showroom earlier this year. I ordered an R2 but would probably change it to an R3 if I had the option. I would like the R3 to have an over 1,000 hp option with smaller/lighter battery pack though.

Did anyone else miss a winking smiley?

The R3 is kind of cool, and I wish Rivian all the best with it but it's hard for me to not to think that its designers were somehow inspired by the 1983 Plymouth Horizon:
Made me think of the AMC SX/4. I wanted one badly then I learned they were not reliable. Got Subarus instead

They need to get this out ASAP. ā˜¹
I saw it online and decided it was going to be my next car. Then, i saw it in person and realized itā€™s too small. Itā€™s really lacking storage. So my next vehicle will be an R2. Both have outstanding dashes and the R3 displayed an outstanding roof tent.

What do you estimate itā€™s closest to in size? A VW Golf, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester?

The tour isnā€™t coming anywhere near me. I have a late R2 reservation, dragged my feet, but the R3X is what Iā€™m more keen on.

It is nowhere close to RAV4/Forester. It's been a while but I'm not even sure it's Golf sized (if memory serves on that as I only remember the Rabbit and the Golf likely is bigger). I imagine it's close.

I have these speakers etc to put in my car. My hubby and I agreed that they won't fit. I think we considered folding the back seat but couldn't be sure as they were not opening them. I was concerned there wasn't enough ground clearance for snow but the numbers work.

Regardless, it's beautiful.
The rear lighting evokes the future. I love the 3X color. I thought you might like Photos from the Denver presentation though I think there were some posted back then. The R3X is the dark teal. The light green is the R3. (The R2 was there as well but the white is boring.) The interiors of both looked outstanding. The dash is better than R1T Gen 1.

It is very cool, and the R3X is impressive in its detail and style. Hopefully, it is everything the model is. If so, there is a good chance that the R3X will replace the wife's car.

Well, you can be the best driver in the world but will never be able to control what other people or animals do. As for the Autobahn...it's legal and only designated safe areas have the high speeds, my bucket list is to drive a 911 on it doing a solid 250 kmh someday :)
A few years ago, I was doing about 250kmh on the autobhan in a BMW when a 911 passed by as if I was standing still. Great roads, great drivers.

That was the worst built car Iā€™ve ever driven in my entire life.

For sure, I already do this with her current daily a '24 i4M50 custom ordered in purple. I do it less now that I have the tri as the rear power bias makes it extremely close in how fast it feels and fun it is to drive.
