Rivian wasted an opportunity to redesign the front end with the R2 and R3. The Bronco and Scout designs have soul. The Rivian front end looks like a spectacled minion.

I like the styling of the R2 but the R3 conjures vibes of the AMC Gremlin for me. Once that image popped into my head, it's all I see whenever I see the R3.Rivian wasted an opportunity to redesign the front end with the R2 and R3. The Bronco and Scout designs have soul. I think its more like the Lancia Delta IntegraleI like the styling of the R2 but the R3 conjures vibes of the AMC Gremlin for me. Once that image popped into my head, it's all I see whenever I see the R3.
Needs to be red and retroreflective as well. This is just a prototype anyway. These could be it maybe?
What are you talking about? You can either open just the window or the whole liftgate. That was shown during the reveal months ago.I was gonna post about the resemblance to the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_Gremlin, but @Ostrichsak beat me to it. There are several style elements in the proptotype R3 that turn me off, one being the channeling of the ghost of the gremlin.
What about that awful hatch in the back that only opens up the window area and doesn't open up enough room to get to the cargo deck in that area? You're supposed to lift groceries or luggage or whatever in and out through the hatch window?
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the R3, I just hope they rethink some of the design elements before executing the plan. I'm sure they will. Concept cars are just that, concepts.
Thanks, @JoeGun13. As I didn't watch the reveal, and as none of the pictures posted in this thread show opening more than the window, that would be what I'm talking about. So, I posted about what I saw. It's nice to know that the concept also includes the capability to open the whole lift gate. Too bad there weren't any pictures of that in this thread. What are you talking about? You can either open just the window or the whole liftgate. That was shown during the reveal months ago.
The R2 will proportionally be very similar to a Model Y (intentionally...), so that's a good yardstick to see if it's the right size for you.I haven’t seen the R2 in person, but I have seen pictures of tall and short people next to it. I like the boxy look on the R1 (well, except for the headlights). On the R2 it just looks claustrophobic, like I’m crammed in a small box, because the car is so tiny. Maybe it will feel better when inside. The R2 and especially the R3 are giving me matchbox vibes.
