Pulled into my local Rudy's BBQ today and saw a Ford Raptor parked in the lot. I figured you all would like to see how my R1T compares to it.

Overall, in real life they are pretty comparable with the exception that the Raptor is quite a bit wider.

And the R1T is quite a bit faster - even when towing a trailer with another car on it. 🤣

R1T is fairly narrow, which helped while doing some offroading recently.

I am surprised at how little body roll there is for how narrow it is as well.

It’s slightly larger than a 3rd generation Tacoma.

It's also roughly half a foot longer than a Ridgeline, otherwise the same in terms of width and height (which can obviously be adjusted to be taller or lower as well). That's probably the best way to think of this thing in terms of size. Ridgeline with the tailgate down.

Awesome comparison! I've yet to experience an R1T in person, but I've been around plenty of Raptors and I know the Rivian dimensions are going to be perfect for me.

I do LOVE the look of the Raptor. Had Ford done the Lighting in a Raptor style, I would have been Ford all the way. Of course, personal preference as to styling. I love the aggressive styling of the Raptor. This comparison photo really shows the difference. If the Raptor was an EV, I wouldn't be here. Relatively speaking, the Lightning is quite boring in appearance since it mostly looks like the 1,000,000 other trucks Ford sells per year. That's one of the big turnoffs for me.

I will say, coming from a Tesla and not having a side by side comparison in front of me, the Rivian looks HUGE to me, as far as looking at it in the garage. Again, compared to the Tesla Model S. I can't even imagine what the F-150 will look like in the garage since it's even bigger!

The Raptor is such a beautiful rig. The wide stance is badass.

First off stop holding back on the details…..brisket or ribs, or even better brisket tacos?
Also have you seen any other R1T s in Austin? I’ve only seen two. LG likes yours near Jollyville road a few times and a rivian blue up in Georgetown.

My Raptor makes the R1T look like a Civic. Not sure what OP is smoking.. I have a gen 37 of course but even my gen2 is way bigger in every conceivable way. You'd have to air suspension at max in off road to even get to the height of my truck stock. But all good.. but no comparison.

I was disappointed that the Nikola truck didn't succeed. That thing was pretty badass looking as well (in my opinion). Was more aggressively styled like the Raptor. The Rivian has a questionable front end, but otherwise looks good. Its certainly far more subtle. Very much reminds me of the Tesla in comparison to other sedans. More of an elegant look. Me personally, I prefer more aggressively styled, sporty looking cars and trucks more aggressively styled like the Raptor. I will say, to me, the Chevy Silverado EV, at least in photos thus far, looks pretty good.

I'm sure someday Ford will release a more aggressive off-road oriented version of the Lightning, but we're likely years away from that. I did place a reservation on the Silverado. If it looks as good in person, will likely replace the Rivian when it's available. I love the look of the Hummer too, but that thing is just so huge and not at all practical as a daily driver. The Rivian wins in that department due to it's smaller size.

I'm curious about what setting you had the suspension in next to the raptor. Can it go higher than the pics? Thank you Tom

100% I don't think the OP's pictures are an accurate portrayal. The second pic is probably the closest to accurate, as they Raptor looks a fair amount beefier there.

I have both a Gen2 Raptor and just got my R1T last month. The Raptor dwarfs the R1T. When I see them both in my driveway, it is not even close. My wife has an RR Evoque, and when all three are parked next to each other the cab size seems closer to the Evoque then it does the Raptor.

I know the R1T is the perfect size for most, and it is much easier to navigate through a parking lot.... but I really love the size of the Raptor. So so so much roomier inside. Wish the R1T was a tad wider and longer... but obviously an amazing truck, and I am selling my Raptor and keeping the Rivian. Until Ford comes out with an EV Raptop of course!
