This is not accurate and don't know where you're getting this wrong info.
Yup, keep reading the thread and you will see that I was already corrected and that I had based my statement on a document I found on the Tesla website last fall. Although the powerwall is not required like I had thought, my statement that it's a proprietary solution is still true.

Yep. That's what I meant.
So my comment stands regarding 2kWh/day. That’s just 4 miles of driving about on an R1 and not cooking, washing/drying, using home HVAC, etc.

Check your math.... 30,000= 30k so 30kWh a day is more than the 11kWh you list per year (which is no where near accurate ;) )
The zeroes disappeared in the kWh figure thanks to autocorrect. But 30,000 watt hours is correct as I said originally.

I haven't seen any recent news or rumors about Rivian's v2h system. I remain interested in adding solar (and probably something like powerwalls) but also want to future proof as much as possible for v2h. This radio silence is concerning.

Seriously?
Rivian mentioned this on the investor call slightly less than a month ago. And what they said is they would be announcing the V2H product in the near future. You think it's a cause for concern that there's no new "recent" announcement?

The investor call had a welcome update on what Rivian is doing in this space, with details about the V2H capability in the R1 and R2 vehicles and a forward-looking statement about their plans to produce a product. This is all good news.

as someone who recently had a 6 day power outage from Hurricane Beryl, and was only able to use the Rivian to power the garage fridge & freezer full of deer meat, phone chargers, coffee maker, and a box fan via extension cords and power strips, what's a realistic timeline for being able to plug the Rivian into a wall apparatus connected to a whole bunch of circuits in my house? Damn Lightning and CyberTruck owners who were setup before the storm made out like bandits.

Could do it today if you had a system with battery storage that could average out your consumption.

oh. what system is that and where do I get one?
I built one and take it with me in our camper. Of course we haven't had an extended outage in a long time.

I've done it with Ecoflows - a few months ago we had a ~9-hour power outage; I plugged the Ecoflows in to the generator inlet (240V 30A) and ran the house off of them. Then I plugged the Ecoflows in to the Rivian's 120V outlet to charge.

(IMPORTANT NOTE from a few months later: 9 hours wasn't long enough to run down the batteries enough that I needed to charge them while they were in use. I re-charged the Ecoflow batteries from the Rivian once the power outage was over. A few months later we had a multi-day outage so I did want to charge the Ecoflows from the Rivian while they were powering the house; that's when I discovered that Ecoflow doesn't like AC input and AC output at the same time. See THIS thread).

Of course the house sometimes uses more energy than the Rivian can supply, but I've got over 20kWh of Ecoflow batteries so that should be a sufficient buffer for any outages we are likely to have around here.

For an extended outage I ccould take the car (and the Ecoflow batteries, if I want) to somewhere that has power, and charge them all from a J1772 station. But yeah, I still eagerly await 240V output from the Rivian!

Interesting. I never thought about plugging a large power bank like an Ecoflow into a generator and run the house on both of them. Is that what you did?

Yup. This photo shows the two Ecoflow control units joined together - each can put out 30A @ 120V, but together they can put out 30A @ 240V. Behind them (not in the photo) are 4 more battery units.

The original generator inlet was outside to accommodate a gas generator; but I had an electrician just grab the wires and hook them up to a generator inlet inside the garage right next to the electrical box.

We are specing a solar array with battery storage using Enphase micro inverters and IQ Battery BU. Enphase has announced a V2H bi-directional charger coming out in the 3rd quarter of 2025. Has anyone installed a solar system that will be compatible with the Enphase Bi-directional charger?

This is a repeat of an earlier link:
