You can do your own search for details but found this last night - Patents have been issued for front bumpers with a winch (fairlead), and one with-out a winch. Winch bumper picture attached.

Curious - can they power a winch from the HV battery? I'm sure they can but how complicated would it be vs just doing low amp 12V (based on size of the two 12v Batts.)?

A Buck Converter on board would handle this quite nicely...as well as many other things.

Retired from construction.
I have a 9000lb warn winch that is bolted in a cradle that plugs into the trailer receiver. I also had a receiver and wiring added to the front so I can use the winch front or rear or remove it when it won't be used. All they need to add is a 12 v power supply that has the amperage to run a winch.

Finally something about how a winch would integrate... an R1* would need a beefy winch to say the least. Curious to see the space where it would live.

Allegedly (read somewhere here on the forum) that is why the frunk shape was redesigned. There is now a hump that intrudes on the frunk where the winch will live.

It would definitely make more sense to power it from HV, making a super powerful but compact winch. The last thing the 12v system needs is another heavy load. Very similar to the HV connection to the AC compressor which is nearby.

Negative. If you look at Out of Spec's frunk tub removal video that hump is for a cooling fan because they slanted the radiator. Now the radiator could've been slanted to make space for a winch, but more likely it was done to allow for a larger radiator and more cooling potential.

400V is the best reason for a synthetic winch cable ever.

The inverter seems to be on the 12V system, so I wouldn't be surprised if the winch is too.
