I don't think there are a lot of people who can and want to spend $90k for an EV truck when an R1S seems more useful. Combine that with how many people actually plan on taking their vehicles off pavement and R1T definitely a niche vehicle.

I don't know what the R2 specs are, but smaller/less powerful/less off-road capable/cheaper will probably appeal to the masses.
I am just the opposite. I find the R1T more useful than the suv form. With the frunk, gear tunnel, and under bed storage it has as much or more dry storage than a normal 2 row suv. Plus more with a tonneau cover or a very useable bed when it’s not covered.

A clear indication that the R1T is losing its popularity now.
Maybe Rivian is upgrading the onboard chargers and they are trying to clear out all the 48A EVSEs first.

Hmm. I placed my order from inventory a few days ago and am scheduled for delivery next week. I’m assuming I would be eligible for this?

I am also one of the opposites. I just recently put my deposit down for an R1T and I saw this email come over earlier. I spoke to a representative about it and they have the same exact configuration I was going to custom build in the R1 shop ready to reserve now. I was concerned if I built one that I would get different features being it was the beginning of 2024 by the time it was expected to be delivered (4 months or less). However, after speaking to him, it is the same exact R1T. So, I may be pulling the trigger on the 1-6 week availability instead of waiting.

I read this post and everyone hates it.... 😆 . I was already second guessing my first EV vehicle purchase, but I need a truck so the smaller SUV won't do for me. Do I wait or pull the trigger now?

Is the charger worth the credit? I see people love the Emporia, Grizzl-E, Wallbox, and Chargepoint so I was probably just going to go with one of those until I saw the credit.

They are certainly trying to clear out all the Bosch motors. This isn’t speculation
Not sure I follow? Do the Bosch motors have a bad reputation? Are they going to lower price for next gen quads with the Enduros?

2024 is going to be a bit tough until the economy and interest rates improve.

The R1T is definitely the best fit for me but still waiting on a few things, like the auto tonneau being added back to the configurator and to make sure the suspension knock has been corrected.

The Bosch is really expensive from what I understand, and it's mostly just that. Rivian doesn't want to pay Bosch for those motors which I assume means they want to make their own quad motor

People vs. plywood

That's the metric I invented to help me decide between S and T.

I don't know why they don't put a bit of money into tv advertising. Raise awareness to those who have no idea what the brand is.

I felt like I royally screwed up in getting the R1T over the R1S.

First because it was an emotional decision as the R1T was coming out sooner, but also because I simply liked the looks of the R1T better.

Secondly because I didn't fully realize how short the usable height of the covered bed was. I did know it was short, but again I didn't grasp how that would impact. This might not be an issue where it doesn't rain much, but I live in the PNW.

But, then I ended up buying a second house and in this use case its pretty useful. Things like hauling stuff from one house to the other house, and all the yard work I'm going to have to do.

Most of my complaints are equal among both. The god awful "its in spec" tock, the "it hates me" passive entry system, and the "justifies carplay by simply sucking so bad" navigation.

Long term the R1T is probably the best bet for me. At some point I'll sell my camper van, and I want to at least have some bare bones essentials for camping and I think the R1T is more amendable to that. Or maybe it won't matter and I'll just tow something. I already have a RTT which I don't think I would have gotten had I had the R1S. In fact one of the best benefits from the R1S is you can just sleep in it without having to get anything for it.

My recommendation for Rivian is to fix the service centers issues, and focus on selling the vehicles as a life style product. I think they have this idea that accessories are secondary to the vehicle when they actually might help sell vehicles.

This is especially critical for the R1T as its predominant buyer is an adventure seeker. The R1S has the benefit that its a 3 row SUV that families will love, and I think there is some pent up demand for something that isn't a Tesla but is a Tesla in its own way.
