Where? That's $22 per gallon of gas equivalent now. No way this makes sense any more. Good luck EVs.

I paid $0.36/kWh last night at the RAN in Sacramento. All the chargers were occupied and people were waiting so I wonder how they determine when to charge the higher rates.Looks like prices went up to $0.68 in busy corridors. As low as $0.37 in less busy ones.(Inyokern)
Will likely increase soon.I paid $0.36/kWh last night at the RAN in Sacramento. All the chargers were occupied and people were waiting so I wonder how they determine when to charge the higher rates.![]()
That increase in price is close to TESLA rates.I paid $0.36/kWh last night at the RAN in Sacramento. All the chargers were occupied and people were waiting so I wonder how they determine when to charge the higher rates.![]()
The ever present misconception that an electric car is so efficient because gas contains 33.7kwh per gallon. The difference between pure fact and the reality of how energy extraction actually works. How are we getting from that to $22/gallon?
Still $5-6 per gallon equivalentOne gallon of gas is 33.7kwh. just multiply the two numbers.
In other math, $.68 / 2.4 miles per kwh is $.28 per mile which is my overall efficiency.
Our gx470 at 20mpg and $5 per gallon would be $.25 per mile. This means that the rivian in an overall energy sense, with their sustainable new charging infrastructure, is worse than 20mpg. Whatever claim of mpge is just inefficiency pushed somewhere else in their system.
Except in winter, then that waste energy is cabin heat at little/no cost to efficiency.Sure a gallon of gas has 33.7 kWh energy...a shame ICE's waste a minimum of 60 percent of that energy!
