Summary:
  • Head of manufacturing, Charly Mwangi, is leaving the company
  • New COO, Frank Klein (formerly of Magna International) will start on June 1
  • Rivian reorgnization will split commercial (i.e. vans) and retail business.
    • Under the reorganization, many of Rivian’s senior manufacturing, engineering and supply chain personnel will report to the new COO Klein.

I'm quite sure this was all negotiated as part of the hiring of Klein and has been planned since then (and probably communicated internally). Can't blame Klein for wanting "his person" in that role as a requirement to come on board.

Didn’t they just hire a new VP of manufacturing from Nissan to replace the previous VP of manufacturing who was also from Nissan and lasted 18 months.

I need to hear more about it to be sure, but splitting the commercial and retail into different business units creates redundancies and can add costs. Everything else sounds good to me.

Different person. I'm not totally sure they actually have Charly's position correct actually.

Redundancy can be good... but duplication at higher costs is not.

I'd like to see how this plays out too.
