Rivian just raised RAN pricing 47% over President’s Day weekend 2025. Montrose, CO was $0.36 Thursday 2/13/2025 when I used the RAN, and increased by 47% to $0.53 Monday 2/17/2025. Similarly, Salida, CO had been $0.36, which increased to $0.43 two months ago and is now $0.54.
0.63. In Corte Madera, Ca sucks !!? 0.54. Sounds like a bargain at EV Go..

Very soon more people will understand that for road trips the best car is ICE...
Can you support that opinion with data? My experience informs me otherwise.

"Road Trip" means different things to different people. A road trip for one person might be 150 miles round trip, another person might drive 150 miles round trip as a daily commute and their definition of road trip is 500 - 1000 miles or more. There's no one size fits all for what is best.

I am willing to tolerate more expensive rates for fast and reliable charging, especially when that vendor isn't Tesla.

Prices will naturally come down when chargers are ubiquitous.
I hope so but I can see the other charging providers advantage of the price increase and get on board doing the same :-(

Just stopped at Barstow - it's $0.64 per kwh now. $50 charge - crazy. Tesla non-member price is $0.60 at Barstow. They went overboard with this increase if you ask me. Rivian owner pricing should be lower than Tesla non-member pricing at the same location.

As much as I hate to support Tesla, over 6,000 miles of driving in the past month, they are the most competitive on pricing now (especially if you pay for the membership). I agree Rivian was the lowest practically everywhere before, but now they're the most expensive practically everywhere it seems. Rivian needs to tweak this increase I believe.

But they’re less or no more reliable than Superchargers, less available, in worse spots than EA, and more expensive. None of your reasons make sense. At least on my road trips on the West Coast, the legacy networks are everywhere and now cost less than RAN.
It's crazy. Going to check out the Tesla Barstow site on the way back from Vegas on Monday in lieu of my normal stop at the Barstow RAN! Rivian didn't execute this increase thoughtfully.

Agreed. Not sure what the play is here. Maybe they'll fold a subscription into connect+ and this gives them a high anchor so they can say they're offering massive discounts to subscribers while keeping other vehicles out of the RAN stations.

Anyone with Connect+ should already get a % discount; this would likely help drive more Connect+ subscriptions even for those that don’t use RAN much.

So… I am having some lunch while I charge my truck. The rate at this EA charger is $0.42. Across the street is a Rivian charger that hit me for $0.54 last Friday. Don’t tell me about competitive pricing or ask if I want the company to be profitable. I don’t do a lot of DCFC but If Tesla or EA is charging less, that’s where I’ll go. I get that there is a membership fee at these two but I feel like my membership fee was the price of my truck.

It seems to me that the RAN network is underutilized. Maybe it's time to open it up to other EVs to help offset the operation costs.

Maybe. And Rivian need to focus on R1x QC, SC waiting time, etc instead of charging, which it is already covered very well by other vendors, especially Tesla.

I don't have Connect+, but would if it came with a discount bringing charging cost down to parity or a little lower than Tesla or EA.
