Rivian just raised RAN pricing 47% over President’s Day weekend 2025. Montrose, CO was $0.36 Thursday 2/13/2025 when I used the RAN, and increased by 47% to $0.53 Monday 2/17/2025. Similarly, Salida, CO had been $0.36, which increased to $0.43 two months ago and is now $0.54.

I am willing to tolerate more expensive rates for fast and reliable charging, especially when that vendor isn't Tesla.

Prices will naturally come down when chargers are ubiquitous.

That sucks but sounds about right. At .36 there is now a chance they were profitable. .54 is a bit on the expensive side, but much more similar to other networks. I'll bet they're going to introduce a membership program.

Sad, but not unreasonable. DC charging infrastructure is EXPENSIVE to run and they need to be profitable. .36 will not get them profit.

Covered in another thread, it's called market pricing. Why should Rivian subsidize your road trip? EA, Tesla, and the rest aren't doing so.
And it's no different than what gas stations do, at least in my area. Fuel prices go up on holiday weekends in certain locations.

Just paid $0.54 at the Fredericksburg VA RAN. No waiting, no funky parking or snarky Tesla drivers, worked seamlessly, no hassle. I will gladly pay that for the few times I have to use DCFC. And, I will still prefer my R1T to any ICE vehicle for road trips.

Yes, for most. But I'll gladly pay a small premium a couple times a year knowing that my total operating cost overall is far less than gas.
This is the only thing that saves it for me. I don’t road trip but maybe 2 times a year if that. Everyone just needs to be more mindful of what hotels offer free charging. Then again, now I expect those spots to be overcrowded

Agreed. Also no different than the toll roads around here that now have dynamic pricing based on demand. Tesla changes pricing based on demand too don't they?

Some of the photos I have seen from I70 in Colorado of crazy traffic stuck in snow... it's no wonder. I'm usually a "deal with crowds and have fun type of person" but most of the ski resorts are becoming unapproachable on President's Day weekend with crowds these days.

Good point. There is a toll road I drive that increases the price Friday evening through Sunday evening, every weekend of the year.

Yup, I charged on our way to Seven Springs a week ago in Hagerstown and I didn't even look at the price, I'm happy to give Rivian my money (wound up being $.42 kwh in Hagerstown on a Monday rush hour and $.36kwh in Breezewood PA on a Wednesday afternoon)

In VA we have the HOT (High Occupancy Toll) lanes that are free if you have 3 or more in the vehicle, but otherwise the pricing changes every 5 minutes based on demand. It's not unheard of for it to exceed $40 toll for a 20 mile ride. It does mean that if you are going to the job interview of a lifetime or have your wife in the passenger seat in labor you can buy your way through traffic though.
