Love the Autel maxicharger here. That said, the comment above is correct, charger doesn't matter (or isn't needed) until you upgrade the breakers, wiring, etc.

I’m wanting to get faster home charging than my Rivian mobile charger, what are y’all using …Rivian Home Charger or Tesla universal and how much over 7.3 kw are you getting ?
I have 2 Tesla universal wall chargers on 50A circuits at my hotel. The universal adapter fails on one of them much of the time, occasionally on the other. I often have to use my NACS to Rivian adapter.
I also have a Tesla NACS wall connecter that works perfectly for our Tesla, and a Tesla

I have 2 Tesla universal wall connector on 50A circuits at my hotel. The universal adapter fails on one of them much of the time, occasionally on the other when charging our R1T. I often have to use my NACS to Rivian adapter, so I'm not a huge fan of the Universal Connector.
At home we also have a 60A Tesla NACS wall connector that works perfectly for our Tesla Y, and a 60A Tesla J1772 wall connector for our R1T. Both work flawlessly.

I went through this recently to the point of paralysis via analysis.

I ended up figuring out that it would be rare for me to need more power than an overnite charge with a 40a 9.x kWh would provide. Plus, an added benefit to the Nema plug is if something happens to my charger it’s way easier to replace.

After digging through all the data it came down to the Tesla Universal or the EVIQO charger. I found a slightly used EVIQO and bought it. I have owned it a couple months and I’ve been very pleased with my decision.

Whatever you do, do not buy the Nema plug from the big box stores. I got an Eaton that was recommended by a local electrical supply house. Hubble was another brand that kept popping up. Good luck.

I bought a used ("new in box") Rivian charger and always get 11.3kw speeds.

The Rivian chargers can be had for $400-$600, often never installed.

The Tesla Universal chargers are cool, though. It would be nice to have the quick adapter while the industry is transitioning to NACs.
I purchased this to use with the tesla charger from my MY that I traded in when I purchased my Rivian. I use this at home and it works well.

Have a Tesla universal.

it has built in redundancy to the point that we just picked up a new 2026 Kia EV9 and it has the Tesla port on it.

Your vehicle now may not have the NACS, but future ones will. And they are coming soon!

I've got a Rivian EVSE - and dont rate it that highly, I found that when updating the AP (Unifi) it was connected to it would never reconnect, and without WIFI would not charge: which may be fixed in a newer firmware update? We replaced them with WallBox Pulsar Pluses - and they have been fantastic. I found State-of-charge to be a great source of info: https://evchargingstations.com/best-ev-chargers-of-2024/

Our Tesla universal charger was replaced twice under warranty. It would keep giving overheating errors in the summer in the garage (temps in high 70s). The 3rd one seems to work fine for now.

I bought a Wolfbox and had it hardwired. I have been very happy and the company support has been excellent.
