Also you mention that it is 2 FSD deaths currently confirmed. There is still another dozen or so are still being investigated by NHTSA and many countries don’t have as strict reporting laws for vehicle accidents so may never be investigated/confirmed.

When can us Gen 1 owners sign up for the class action against Rivian for promising and selling those abilities and then completely abandoning them even to the point that a retrofit will not even be able to be purchased, let alone provided as a way to ensure the promises sold to gen 1 owners are kept.

Has this been started yet? I know we have plenty of lawyers here, does case law support this as a violation? These abilities, while not the full value of the vehicle, do possess a quantifiable value.

If you're unable to drive a car, you shouldn't own one. if you're in a car, drive it. You don't need to text or scroll the internet every minute . if you need to get some place, but you need to text maybe take an uber.

While the tech is cool, it totally unnecessary and just a gimmick and parlor trick. having your eyes on the road, even if autonomy is doing most the work is a GREAT safety net for the unknown.

Especially if you need to drive long distances. Driving is not fun. It’s dead time. Self driving vehicles might give you back that dead time. Now if you want to use that time to text and scrolling the web, knock yourself out.

driving might be the biggest dead time in my life. Some day no one will own a vehicle, when you need to go somewhere a vehicle will pick you up and move you to where you need to go. Might be across town, or across the country. And you can work, sleep, rest, play, paint, exercise….

I’m rambling, my point is just because we have cars today that we own and drive, there is a good chance we won’t have cars in the future to move around. Vehicles will do that work for use, eliminating dead time.

I am fine with the technology being used to enhance the human interaction, I am not fan of having the human interaction removed. No time in the evolution of mobility has the human been replaced, beside track and rail short transportation, airports, Disney world etc,,

If you could get on a plane today, with no pilot or a high speed train with no conductor? Would you? both these mostly control themselves but there is still the human safety net.

FSD type capabilities could be highly important to the disabled community, providing independence and mobility, enable them to travel to work, medical appointments, social events, and other destinations without relying on others for assistance . being used as a parlor trick is not the best uses of this tech.
