Rivian sent me an e-mail to share this reference guide with me, and said my early access invitation would be coming soon.

Seems to have some more specific measurements than I recall seeing before.

100kWh LFP battery, 100kW DC charging, no AWD mentioned yet. Not rated for towing. Definitely just seems like they want the market to be limited to local delivery companies, not sure if it'd end up being worthwhile for me yet.

Thanks for posting. Interesting to see they specifically say it isn't rated for towing. Hopefully they will come out with a towing number later.
I also wonder why they are only going with the 100 kwh battery. Would have liked to see range above 160 miles.

Yeah, the other thing that will likely steer me away, is I'm not sure I want to deal with the size of the EDV 700, but the 500 won't take a 48x48 pallet through the door, so that's a problem for my potential use case. No towing means I can't overcome that limitation.

Considering the rework of the vehicle to make it AWD and toss in a larger battery etc, I think it will always be more of a delivery/around town vehicle, and not the electric adventure glamper we're all hoping it could be.

That's a huge miss. Can you work with 42x48?

Comparing to the competition by size, do eTransit, Sprinter, or other smaller sized options fit 48x48?

Wow.... 153mi range with a single motor. That is pretty horrible for anyone considering making it a camper van.

Right now I'm not typically transporting palletized stuff ourselves. The rare time I am, it's going in a truck bed. But if I have to keep doing that after buying a van because I can't get things guaranteed to fit, it'll be pointless to get one.

Have you looked into the Chevy BrightDrop vans? Not sure if they'll fit a pallet through the door but they are going to start selling to the public soon and available in AWD.

I think these would still make excellent service vehicles for mechanical contractors. When I was in that line of work I would have loved to have one of these.

There's a GM dealership across the street from my current project full of BrightDrop Zevo's with either Belfor restoration services logos plastered on them or FedEx. I'll be honest, they look decent, and there is a company called Grounded RV that's converting them to camperized versions.
So there is a market, for contractors etc out there, but I think the peace of mind that there is a large GM dealership within Metro Vancouver that sells and services them is likely a large part of the allure.

And they're AWD

Brightdrop's sales guy stopped responding to my inquiry after I stated I was only interested in a single one. That was well before they got reconsolidated though, so who knows.

I'm surprised that Rivian's guy is still talking to you, with that being the case. I met their head of fleet sales in October at the Nashville space as they were debuting the EDV when the R2 and R3X were there. He told me their number to consider sales was five or greater then. He said they would be willing to evaluate use for non profits on a singular basis through a special program but outside of that it was fleet only.

I suspect they might take into consideration how long I've been interested in the fleet program, and that I personally own two Rivians already, so I'm already used to dealing with them on servicing issues, etc. Of course it could also be an oversight.

I hope you do get one. I'd love an in-depth review. I have no use for one these days, but I might contact my old boss.
