My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
What bout the speed it say tesla can charge

What bout the speed? Tesla says it can charge 44 miles per hour while Rivian 25 miles per hour or it just depends on the amps your gettin?
“Miles per hour” is dependent on the efficiency of the vehicle. What the vehicle accepts in terms of kW (and amperage) will determine how quickly - or slowly - the battery can charge.

Thanks for that info its my first time to have an electric vehicle coming off from a gas guzzler car.

Rivian needs more juice to go the same distance so mph of charge will be less. They both max out at 48 amps on level 2.

Welcome to the EV club!

Definitely familiarize yourself with some of the details of EV ownership - terminology, charging networks (it’s a mixed bag at best), adapters, etc.

The Rivian is by far our best EV of the three we’ve owned, and IMO much better than the last gas truck we had.

Rivian is switching to NACS on future vehicles as is every manufacturer pretty much. So Tesla Charger hands down as it is more future proof without the need for an adaptor like the Rivian Charger will need for even future Rivian vehicles.

I'm partial to the Tesla chargers. They can power share (as can others) and the UWC can charge any EV.
I just got my R1T and I'm figuring on the Tesla Universal for these 2 reasons.

We will be replacing our Bolt soon - which we've been doing ok charging via Level 1 for over 3 years. But it was the "second vehicle" with our ICE being primary. Now that we're going all BEV, I want to be as future proof as possible.

I like that is is both J1772 and NACS capable.
The load sharing (so we can have 2 EVSEs on the same circuit) is built in, just add another Tesla Universal and let them talk to each other. Plus, its ~$620 on Amazon. It seems like the best deal going for the features/capability.

I'd surely be open for other suggestions - my only gripe so far is that I've called 3 Tesla recommend installers - 2 haven't called back and the 3rd "doesn't service my area"
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Guess I gotta keep looking...

Neither. Chargepoint Flex is the way.
I have both the Chargpoint Flex (at home) and the Tesla universal Charger (at mountain house/vacation home). Both work flawlessly - charging both my R1S and wife’s BMD iX. I got tHe Tesla universal Charger to future proof connector and to be able to offer both to visiting guests - doubt you could go wrong with either

Wow! nice thanks for that info i might ask them if they can install tesla wall charger, originally its rivian wall charger through rivian website but it seems tesla uni charger is the best and cheaper too compare to rivian.

My solar system is Enphase so I opted for the (expensive) Enphase charger (power supply 48 amp). The app, charger, schedules, work seamlessly. Very pleased.

No, it isn't something that can be fixed and it isn't something that should be fixed.

A bigger vehicle is always going to require more energy to travel any given distance. Just like gas pickup trucks have always and will always burn more gas then a gas powered sedan even if they were both using the same engine.

Rivian's R1S/R1T is way bigger than the Tesla you are comparing it to (only the Model 3/Y advertise 44mph on a 48A charger).

The only way Rivian could ever be as efficient as that is if they made it as small as a 3 or Y. I guess you could say the R2 and R3 is fixing this "bug". But at least for me, R2 and R3 completely defeat the point. If I wanted a Tesla sized EV, I would have bought a (another) Tesla. The whole point is to get something bigger, which will never be as efficient.

No. Please review the basic laws of physics. A vehicle that is nearly 2x the weight of another will always take more energy to move. And at the same energy transfer rate (wall charger ie. kW) will therefore always take more time to charge. In my case, I have an R1S that replaced a Model 3. The R1S is roughly 2x the weight of the Model 3 but the battery pack size is also roughly 2x larger. So same range (300 miles) but because the R1S has a 2x battery pack size, takes 2x longer to charge the battery pack. The charging rate of both is limited by the wall charger amperage, NOT by any software updates.
Thank you guys for your knowledge.
Good to know that.now im learning more bout this ev .

I have a Wallbox charger and like it. It works well with both the Tesla and Rivian. It has it's own App.

A week or so after I had it installed, it developed a problem. I did a 5-minute phone call with their tech support and they said there's a problem with the unit and it needs to be replaced. Two days later I had the replacement hanging on my wall and the original in a box to go back to them. That's great customer service.
