"Rivian Care" extended warranty now being offered

I’m def interested. I tend to not buy extended warranties. But I keep my vehicles for a long time. Despite me having created zero service events, with all the reports of issues by others, an extended warranty makes sense to me.

My only concern about this warranty powered by Assurant versus Fidelity or Xcare is the reviews I have read online for Assurant when related to cell-phone claims.

I would like to see what is folks experience after the original Rivian bumper to bumper warranty has expired and they need to get service using their extended Rivian Care policy.

Here is the original thread where we discussed Fidelity / XCARE for extended warranty options.

I ended up going with Fidelity extended warranty for 10 years / 100,000 miles. XCare is a good option as well and very competitive.

If folks are not in Texas and close to their warranty expiring, I would consider Fidelity or Xcare if you plan to keep your vehicle beyond the warranty period.

What are your thoughts on a 10 yr or 11 yr / 100,000 miles - 150,000 miles bumper to bumper extended warranty by Fidelity Warranty Services

Bmw extended warranty and service contact are two separate things.

This is a fine language thing, but cars don't really have extended warranties. They are all service agreements or service contracts of some sort. This is a fine legal distinction. Many of them also have varying levels of "service" from basics major coverage to full service. Just the "warranty" service agreement from BMW was expensive; the all-inclusive was insane. Both are still service agreements.

It looks like tire protection IS part of it. Unless I am reading that wrong.

That reads like the all-inclusive service/insurance/maintenance type packages. They tend to be exorbitant because they cover so much. Windshield, tire, and wheel stuff was never part of the OE warranty. I'd hope for a service agreement that just extends the major repair warranty.

The language around all these options is annoying as hell.

I haven't had great luck with Assurant for cell phones. It definitely has been problematic with them. I'll stick with my Xcare as they have been good and the coverage of 10 yrs/175k miles is very hard to beat.

I believe that what you posted is the legal disclaimer stating where the policy can or cannot be written by specific underwriters, etc. based on state laws regarding warranties. There is a FAQ:

Looking at ford's EV care pricing as baseline, which doesn't extent or cover the HVB warranty, list price for 8 years is over $7K

Great proposal. Will be interesting to see how the pilot works in Texas and what is decided for a national rollout in pricing and benefits. Rivian management keeps doing EVs right.

Yeah… but also sounds like another opportunity for the Rivian name to be attached to something that is poorly rolled out (power tonneau, et al), or never delivered (camp kitchen, et al), or just badly delivered by the partner and therefore a disappointment to Rivian fans… and thereby tarnish the brand. If they do it (like with anything else they offer) they need to do it really well… or leave it completely to the aftermarket, imo.
