I was thinking that the R1T and R1S will basically be the first electric vehicles that may be widely used for off roading, which brings up new issues such as whether the battery packs will be adequately protected.
THey've said that the battery packs use a carbon composite shell along with a ballistic shield, which sounds strong, but we're also talking about a nearly 6000 lbs vehicle possibly landing on rocks and other hard terrain. Hopefully they've conducted impact tests on the underside of the skateboard chassis to test how much impact it can actually take without damage to the battery packs.
