I'm still trying to think of a use case for when I need to open the tailgate but I am not already standing in front of it... Same with the hood tbh.

I would love for the tailgate to auto open if we waved our legs under the rear of the vehicle for a set amount of time...

My Telluride did this and I miss it...

That would be nice for sure. I guess if I was planning on loading something heavy into the truck, I could open the tailgate from my phone, then pick up the object and carry it over to the truck? ?‍♂

In theory the rear camera could be used to detect this but that's not typically what's done.

remote opening of the hood was nice when i had a box that a buddy needed to get from my truck in the parking garage at my work. i could remotely open it up for him without having to leave the building. that's one time in 9 months it came in handy....

I guess they can couple the rear camera with paak to achieve this outcome in a future update.

I use the remote hood open feature all the time when I'm buying stuff. Can open the hood and immediatly start loading stuff in there instead of standing in front of it, pushing the button, and waiting for it to open.

I use that feature on key fob for years, coming out of the market as I walk towards the car open the rear so I can quickly put my stuff in and go. Now the phone app has that function, just like the key fob.

A couple of months ago I saw from afar some folks checking out my Rivian (as in genuine interest, not trying to steal something) and doing that thing where they put their hands around their face to see inside better. I told my young son, "watch these guys jump" and hit the horn from my phone. They jumped a mile and ran off! Childish, I know.

There was time on my Tesla when I could drive slowly past people and hit the whoopie cushion fart sound that would come out of the external speaker (they dropped this soon after with an update). The looks on people's faces. Priceless.

Seriously, the hands free sensor to drop the tail like Volvo, Kia would be good. I'd also like to see the function Tesla has when the windows all close as the car auto-locks. That should be an easy one to code in.
