I didn't get that email from Rivian and I didn't put down a deposit until March of this year. I wonder if I am going to be on a later production cycle than folks that are getting emails today?
I have yet to put down a deposit but got an email. Think I signed up for updates on their site though

Hmp10, when you put down your deposit, you must not have checked the box that said Rivian can send you email updates. Just guessing.

If it's any consolation, it appears deliveries of the new Bronco won't begin until June 2021 either.

No other electric pickup will be out by June of 2021. Anyone who has not preordered will not get one until likely 2023 due to production ramp up. It is good to have confirmation finally.

That will depend on how many have been ordered and how well they ramp up production. The factory is cable of pushing out a couple of hundred thousand vehicles or so per year at max output. (Based on my recollection of what I have read.)

Folks,

I updated my simulation to match the new timelines. I also split the R1S and R1T going into production at different times.

I have made an assumption that starting August, the production line can do 50% R1S and 50% R1T. The throughput for the first year (2021) is 1142 vehicles per month and for 2022, the production ramps up to a run rate of 1667 vehicles per months (translates to 20K per year).

For more details on the order counts I arrived at, please refer to this thread.

The count of orders until Q1 of 2020 is assumed to be 30,000 for this calculation.

Rivian R1T R1S Rivian Announces New Timelines - R1T Delivery Begins June 2021 and R1S in August 2021. Pilot Production Starts 1595673715340

Here is how the delivery chat looks like. Please pay attention to the color coding. In the table below, look at the columns to see when you placed the order. The rows give you the calculated year, month when you are likely to get your car delivered.

Fingers crossed. My condition doesn't change that much. My R1S will be ready mid-way through 2022.

I ordered mine in April so Q2 2020 which puts me into January of 2023 by your chart. But I am also buying a 180 kWh pack which may change my position in line a little since they are planning to build the high and mid capacity vehicles first. (Can't help wondering how many orders are for the smallest battery pack anyway). I am still holding out hope for mid 2022 but now I am prepared for a 2023 delivery.

12/19/18 here, and CT better not beat our R1S's!

Right you are. I assumed that putting down a deposit automatically put me on their mailing list. I just added my name. Thanks.

Don't worry about it. One of our experts has informed us that Tesla is, unlike many other car companies, incapable of establishing pilot production lines anywhere other than where they say they intend to do volume production and so will not be able to produce any CT until the Austin factory is compete and they only broke ground last weekend.

I'm thinking that Rivian had to make an announcement like this. There is too much at stake!! Especially with Ford Bronco getting introduced to the world with so much hype and perceived options/packages/body styles and ways for it to be configured. Oh yeah and "hundreds of aftermarket parts already designed/planned". People are talking about it even though its not a BEV it has sparked interest. rivian can't afford to lose any orders I would think. The next thing is IMO is that Rivian release their configurator in line with the same timing as the Bronco and who knows.....maybe even Cybertruck (yuk). If they don't they will surely lose orders to some other manufacturer whoever it may be.

I think it highly likely those production numbers are way too low for a couple of reasons.
1) RJ and Rivian tend to be ultraconservative on what they promise.
2) Much has changed since the 20K first year production number was hinted. Namely billions of dollars in investments and they are already expanding the building to accommodate more production.
