Is Rivian charging for the RAN chargers in Lenwood (Barstow), CA yet?
If you haven’t heard before I’ll be stopping there on November 21 <smile>

Tony is such a good communicator that he doesn't know "s00n" is poking fun at poor Rivian communication and missed deadlines so he used it in his official correspondence. Wow.
Tony is not in the best role for his abilities!

They were free Thursday & Friday in NorCal and Oregon. The displays have changed from the "this one's on us...stay adventurous" to charge screens with a price of $0.00.

In 5 months of ownership I've used RANs several times and they are just easy. I like how if a machine is off-line, the light is red even before you pull up.

When on road trips and there's a RAN close by...I'll use one as they are just easy to use. I hope they keep pricing competitive with other options out there.

same! Great experience at the Happy Valley charger and avoided paying EvGO about $30. Happy to send the money Rivian's way in the future as long as they stay reliable and continue improving.

That being said, I hope they can improve their load sharing algorithm (straight splitting isn't efficient), get DC-DC buses going or limit to 2 charger per cabinet, and push more than 500A eventually.

More importantly will be how long they will remain Rivian exclusive. We all paid for that infrastructure in the purchase price of the car. When there's an impossible stop like Quartzsite EA, RAN is really nice and they were smart to put one there. If they open it up to others, they better be getting NEVI money to build lots more stations because only Rivian and Telsa seem to care about the charging experience.

Who said we paid for the RAN with the purchase of our trucks? I don’t think Rivian said that. Now the ones that bought shares of the stock probably financed some it.

Oh yea you're probably right. The business model doesn't include paying for other stuff out of the sale of the vehicles. Out the goodness of their heart they are buying us charging infrastructure. How cool is that?

I charged at the RAN in Lenwood (barstow) and they are charging $0.35/kWh now. I think I paid about $25 to go from 33% to 80%. No bad, but probably just under $50 to "fill up the Tank" now...still cheaper than gas! Of course I only charge on public chargers a few times per year, the rest of the time my solar is picking up the tab.

I would argue that nobody really "cares" about the charging experience, the goal right now is just to get outlets in the ground. Sure Tesla and Rivian are worlds better than EA and the rest, however, at nearly all charging stations these charging companies don't even put out a trash can or a squeegee for washing your windshield. Most chargers don't have any shade, and you have to sit there for 30-60 minutes in the blazing sun while charging. You are lucky to get a McDonalds or gas station nearby to use the "facilities", which you feel bad using because you're not even buying their gas.

EV charging companies need to start coming out with lounges with clean bathrooms and some places for families to loiter. I went on a 5,000 mile EV road trip in the west last summer and charging was a nightmare with my three kiddos in the back and 120F temperatures in the desert. We would throw our trash in whatever trash can was nearby, kids had to stay in the hot car because it was miserable and no nearby AC buildings that were nice, etc. Basically EV travel still sucks and there is a huge market for some company to come along and make major improvements in the comfort and care department! I would gladly pay a premium for electricity to get these amenities while on the road.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Sacramento RAN is charging for charging (ha!). Spent $19.51 for 54kWh. We stopped there because everyone needed to pee, and everyone was hungry for Costco pizza. Otherwise, we would have pushed on to Manteca and charged there.

Bonus - Costco had my favorite sweatshirt in stock at this store, so I bought 3.
