I'll say it again.....Rivian has a demand problem for the R1T.

Yeah, probably because of the long wait to even get one, the Ford Lightning, and now the ugly TST on the way.

Service appointments are 2-months out at the Costa Mesa SC. They even added a 2nd shift for technicians. Rivian has outgrown the location.

Orange county is a huge market. And right now Orange county is likely servicing most, if not all of, the inland empire. Once Riverside is up and running, it will likely free up capacity in costa mesa.

good idea. they should do the same in other large metro like Seattle Denver, SF, LA. of course wont be at the same scale as the factory plant but they can still move some inventory.

Classic Rivian! They have customers with pre-orders from 2019 unfulfilled, and they are making cars available for same day sales! Just tickles my heart!

Smart move for end of quarter delivery push. Only 3 weeks remain in Q2.

Any car produced now won't have enough time to ship to a SC, PDI and customer deliver before end of Q2. Selling from the factory can cut off 2-4 weeks of shipping. Normal plant probably has plenty of extra people they can pull into PDI duty and delivery support.

As a bonus, they do save a lot of transport cost by delivering from the factory. Any car delivered from a SC is probably breakeven on the delivery fee. Any car that they haul to a customer's door is a guaranteed $$ loser. Customer's need to come to a SC to pick up their cars. These aren't Lamborghinis or Bentleys.

I fully agree. Only so many consumers can afford to purchase a $75k + vehicle with current interest rates.

Once all of the pre-March 2022 reservation holders get their vehicles we will see a real slump in demand.

Yeah the one in Eastvale needs to open to get all the IE plebs out of the way.
Maybe it'll help with the traffic on the 55 too!

It’s unfortunate that my R1T hasn’t been declared totaled yet. I would be fine with flying out to St Louis and driving to Normal to pick out a replacement truck.

Wonder if they are going to do that at more Service Centers. I dropped my R1S at the Costa Mesa Service Center today and they had rows and rows of R1's lined up. They might be all accounted for, but if that is the case, they need a faster way to get those out the door. Also, if you are getting service done there, they did not have any Rivian loaners available. They had Enterprise pick me up so I could get a prearranged loaner. Ended up with a nice Mercedes SUV, so I'm not mad at all. It is the first Mercedez I've ever driven, and I'm not mad about it.

Answering OP's question, I live in Illinois and I received this email invite as well.

Kicker is... I am already an R1T owner and don't have any other R1Anythings on pre-order. I did joke with the wife she can go get an R1 too, but she's still happy with her old GMC Acadia and no car payment.
