2023 Rivian R1S
After posting earlier this morning about former McLaren employees at Rivian, I got curious about one key person that had left Rivian in 2020. I was curious to see what exciting new project he had moved on to after Rivian. Sadly, I did not find the answer I expected. I am very sad to report that Mark Vinnels passed in October 2021.

I'm sure some here may have had the opportunity to meet him at the 2018 LA Auto Show. While I never met him personally, I have great respect for his career accomplishments and the passion and enthusiasm he demonstrated for Rivian in company media (anyone remember his video comment about how fast the R1 is?) and his Fully Charged LA auto show interview with Jonny Smith. RIP Mark Vinnels.

It looks like he did more with those 56 years than many do with 90. RIP.

That's sad to hear, my first exposure to Rivian was actually watching the Fully Charged segment where Mark Vinnels gave the guided tour.
