It seems the reviews are coming out for the upcoming Lucid Dream EV.
https://electrek.co/2021/08/25/lucid-air-dream-edition-buyers-choice-over-1000-hp-500-miles-range/

Lucid has also set the benchmark for EV range (500Miles/charge) and this review backs that up...

I am somewhat disappointed that Rivian (which should have launched in July) has not done similar in-depth reviews of the R1T (or the R1S).
When do you think Rivian will allow reviews to occur (or lift embargos on publishing)?

Hope this doesn't come off wrong, but is there an accompanying video? The article didn't really give any new info from me, and the reviewer didn't convey any first hand experience. Just based off that article, Rivian doesn't seem to have that much less info.

Really excited for the SUV. With the 900V system and those super powerful, compact motors should be great

I think the reason for that became clear with the publication of the official EPA range estimates. The EPA tested three versions of the Air, each with 19" and 21" wheels, for a total of six tests resulting in six ratings. (All six make up the six-highest EPA ratings ever awarded to an EV.)

Most manufacturers do not submit this many variants of a single model to testing, but Lucid seemed to want to relieve its buyers of a lot of guess work.

520mi of range is pretty wild for their range-focused build. The battery size is pretty close in size to the model S (110 kWh v. 100 kWh), which Tesla rates for 405mi of range. Does that mean lucid has some secret sauce when it comes to range efficiency, or is this just a case of lucid spending more on materials, etc. since the car is a lot more expensive?

IIRC its their motors. They are 100% custom, built in house and mega efficient.

Apparently they don't differentiate between "drivetrain" and "motors." Sure the Lucid motors may be evolutionary compared with other electric motors, but to imply that Rivian's drivetrain isn't also evolutionary is disingenuous at best bordering on intentionally misleading.
