I only charged 14 times; started with a full charge; ended with about 20%. Only one Rivian charge site; the other 2; Rivian charged me vs Tesla

Fortunately most of the charge locations were not busy and didn’t have to disconnect the trailer. I had to disconnect at one stop; hotel Tesla location and ICE had 4 chargers blocked.

I could go about 100 miles per full charge; but when the spacing of the chargers are about 60 miles apart…

Why does it show range of 222 then with the trailer. 14 times on that drive would have driven me insane.

Where in FL to where in MD? I did that drive last week in a Q5 (Naples to NoVA).

Did it in 1 day. Stopped 4 times for gas. Definitely not sane…

Tallahassee area to southern Maryland; 26 hours; winter weather can be unpredictable. Saw the snow has melted in Maryland, left Friday am and arrived Saturday. Pushed through with more snow is coming later in the week and keeping to the work schedule. Maybe a little insane after all.

Colder temps likely affected range too.

with large battery on Gen 1 you have 131 kWh usable. So if you get 1.0 mi per kWh that’s 131 miles from 100% to 0. But as most of you know you don’t typically do that on a road trip typically you’re stopping when you get to 10% and your only charging to 80% so realistically, you only have 70% of the battery to work with. 131 * .7 =91.7 so about 92 miles max between charging stops after the 1st. Now, if you’re getting 1.2 you can go slightly further. 91.7 * 1.2 =110.04

now, when I tow a flat tandem axle trailer with a UTV on it, I was getting 1.6 mi./kWh in R1T.

It really helps if you limit speeds to 60 mph. Above 60 efficiency drops exponentially.
