It’s your car/money. But I’d recommend giving Goat Fabrication a look. Two styles, one being new and in pre-order. They do not mount to HV pack mounting points. Do not interfere with use of jack pucks and factory lift points. Are strong enough to lift vehicle from, with jack placed directly under it. If you’re going to bother with the expense, why not get something that is more than a step. And if you can wait until Black Friday, it will cost less than current prices.

Thank you.

What I like about the RealWheels product is that you don't have to discard the plastic covers on the underbelly. It makes for a cleaner look.

I really don't see a need for rock sliders based on the type of driving I will be doing.

You can reinstall the plastic trim if you want to. Watch Goat’s installation video.

I went with EvBase running boards. They were $600 compared to $1,300 for the stainless steel ones.

looks wise I’m sure the stainless steel is great but functionality wise…. If you’ll be going on the trails and scratching stuff of or replacing them due to damage I’d go for the cheaper evbase ones.

but to each their own and depends on what you’ll be doing or how you’ll be treating them.

I picked up some used EvBase ones for $200. I'm happy with them

I had the Goat sliders on my R1T, need to buy another set for the R1S, but in either case it took maybe a half hour to mark and cut out slots in the panels then reinstall them before putting the sliders in place.

The unrestricted access ot the factory jack points is important, Rivian may not work on the vehicle with the running boards installed if they're unable to use their jack pucks on those points.

EVsport line has a blowout deal for specific 2025 R1S on running boards with metal undercarriage panels. See if this works for you based on year / vin.

The next option I would recommend is DCE which has recently dropped their price and this is the one I installed.

I have heard good feedback for RealwheelsEV, Goat Fabrication and Megawatt.

Just see which one works best for your use case and make sure to call them and confirm compatibility with your VIN / model year.

Their MO is to delay and offer small refunds in hopes of wearing you down. Even when presented with all the evidence in writing, they will still gas light you. They are a horrible unethical company.

Have a look at EV Sportline - happy to help with any questions!

Running Boards:
  • we are made in USA
  • Best aero (least range loss)
  • No ground clearance loss (our brackets are tucked tight)
  • Properly engineered brackets with secondary force member
    • Some competitors tried to copy this design but didn't understand how it works, so theirs does not provide the added strength
  • Clears jack puck points, no issues with Rivian service
  • Optional bolt-on aero panels (no cutting option)
  • All kits Include required specialty Torx bit for installing
  • Includes new hardware

Rock Sliders:
  • The best, period. Max coverage, max protection. Be very careful, many others claim 'rock slider' and it's really just a running board. Especially the Chinese vendors, they copied our running board aero panels and mis-named them 'rock sliders' -- those aero panels are NOT rock sliders. Our rock sliders are over engineered for the most extreme duty / maximum protection.

Hey, thanks for putting us in the running, we'd love to help you with your decision! 😁

I know you've done your research, but here's a quick refresh on what makes RealWheels EV running boards unique:
  • Non-magnetic 304 stainless steel construction (manufactured at our plant in Zion, IL) means they won't rust, pit, corrode, discolor, etc. Material choice dramatically impacts longevity and appearance, no matter what applications you use your Rivian for.
  • RealGrip™ step surface design technology provides exceptional traction in any conditions—wet, snow, slush, oil, etc.—while allowing for rapid drainage.
    • Our RealGrip™ design technology is also NFPA compliant, meaning that it has been tested and approved for use in the most demanding, and safety-critical environments.
  • Running boards have a full-length silhouette design extending from wheel-to-wheel for total coverage and accessibility, and a factory-fit appearance
  • Double-bend reinforced design (engineered specifically for the R1S frame mounting points) provides extra strength and stability, while still giving full clearance for factory jack points
  • Hand TIG welded by our people here in Illinois, ensuring maximum quality control from raw material to finished product
    • Top plates are welded on, so no need to worry about loose screws on the stepping surface
Let us know what else we can do to help.

Awesome! Make sure you've got a TP20 (Torx Plus 20) & TP55 (Torx Plus 55) bit for the install because that is what the Rivian OEM uses. Can't wait to see the finished product!!
