I was quoted $3,500 to repair this deep scratch and dent by a mobile repair. A little higher than I expected, but I’ve never had to do it before. Also, any concerns about doing it mobile vs a body shop?

Not sure I see the dent. $3500 seems like a lot.

Personally I wouldn't spend it but I'd be happy with a touch up pen.

Spend $40 on the paint pen. Apply a few coats of the paint, buff out, and apply some more. The dent doesn't look that bad and it is something you can probably live it.

I don't have before photos, but as a bit of a comparison:
I had damaged my tailgate. I went to my friendly neighborhood, back-alley, mom and pop (but really just pop) most highly recommended body shop. $1500 to close a hole, flatten everything back out to be smooth as new, and paint match everything on hard mode.

If you have a nice detailer you like, call them up and ask them for their favorite body shop. If you don't, find someone local to you who has really nice vehicles and ask him or her who their detailer is. All of those guys like repeat business for the extremely expensive cars they service. They won't steer you wrong.

My .02 anyway.

Was wondering about fixing a scratch on the rear driver’s side from off roading and a small dent that appeared one day on the driver side gear tunnel door. I feel like $1500 would be my max.

If you absolutely want the fix, get more quotes. Your quote has expensive car tax. Same person would likely do it for a fraction on a Kia for example.

Is he a youtube dent fix influencer? This could be the Kat Von D effect. She was a tattoo artist that got famous with her own cable TV reality show. Decent artist, but because of her fame started charging $500 + per hour which was crazy at the time, but had no trouble filling the seat.

$3500 is insane for that. Maybe $400 for the paint touch up?
Fully agree. Now with that said getting behind a damaged panel to make a pdr repair can be challenging. If that is one of the aluminum panels it makes it that much more challenging As other have stated maybe first try a touch up paint pen and see how it looks.

Some of that price might be attributed to the service center not wanting to do the work, but if you are willing to pay the price they will. The problem is that most body repair facilities will want to re-paint the entire panel. Not many places will paint the dent area and then buff it out. the paint will not look right. I backed into my garage door and dented the upper part of my tail gate. My friend owns a very high-end collision repair facility. He told me If I took off the trim and red light that goes across the tailgate he could fill the dent and paint just the area above the light. that would cost $400 and that just covers his cost. If he was to do all the work he would have to charge me $1500. I researched how to strip the tailgate of all the parts that have to be removed, it gets complicated. I decided I would wait until I wanted to sell the car then I will have it fixed. My luck is such that I would have it fixed and a week later I would dent the thing again.
