Can anyone with the R1S running boards comment on whether the angle of the leading edge by the front wheel is the same as the trailing edge by the rear wheel? In other words, do the R1S running boards appear symmetrical front to back if cut down the middle? Also, @RealWheelsEV can you comment on the previous posts about the boards hanging down lower than expected. Is there adjustability to have them sit "tighter" to the body of the vehicle? Pictures of the blue R1S show the boards a bit lower than expected. This is not necessarily a bad thing as there have been reports of issues with snow/ice clearance for some folks in the winter with other brands. Thx!

@RealWheelsEV, Can you recommend some installers in the San Francisco Bay Area, near zip code 94582? I just don’t feel comfortable cutting anything from my R1S.

Sure thing.

I would recommend ZEVcentric. They own a couple of Rivian's themselves and have done plenty of installs. You can ask for Rishie and let him know we sent you over, he'll make sure you are taken care of.

The front and rear of the R1S running boards are different intentionally. The rear are closer to a 90° bend to maximize your stepping surface. We noticed that when getting in the rear, the area that you would most comfortably step on is missing if you made it match the front angle. Because of this we made the rear of the running boards come back as far as possible giving you a larger stepping surface and a more ergonomically correct feel when getting in our our of the R1S. Great for little kids too, by giving them a larger taget to get their feet on. You can see the difference of the front and rear here.

As far as the height goes, we had a couple of factors that went into determining the position of the running boards. We wanted the height of the running boards to feel right when you get in and out of your vehicle. Moving the brackets up or down ~1" makes a difference in how that feels, especially when exiting. We wanted to make sure that you could clean the entire stepping surface and backside of the tubes. Having a board right up against the plastic made washing and wiping down the running boards very difficult. Since we are from an area that does get snow, we also wanted to make sure that you wouldn't have any issues with build up effecting the doors from opening or closing. I've personally experienced this in a friends truck with runnning boards close up against the bottom of the doors. After a freezing rain/snow/slush mixture, a 20 minute drive had so much frozen slush built up on the running boards that the door had to be forced open and was scrapping the build up. We had to break away the ice on the board just to close the door. This was something that we wanted to avoid if possible, and so far the height of our boards have made it through winters trouble free. We are working on something that can be added to our boards to help with the look while still maintaining the benifits that they offer. If you have any other questions, just let me know. Thanks!

If in Tampa Bay area use Auto Film Guys in Tarpon Springs, FL. for excellent installation.

Just an FYI the brothers truck accessories have no idea what to do. They asked me to send a video of you guys installing it and said they can most likely duplicate on how to install. I did place an order a few days ago, is there an ETA of when shipping goes out?

Are you having them install it? Did you reach out to the other two on the list? I'm looking for someone to install as well.

Ya I reached out to the one in HB they charge $350. Off the grid I didn’t even contact bc their reviews on yelp were really bad. So I might just install them myself with a friend

Thank you for the info on Brothers. Your boards will be going out in next weeks batch. They are in production now and should be ready to ship next week. Thank you for the order!

Just want to shout out to the RealWheelsEV team. I ordered the running boards for the R1T after work and the next day they were shipped. Very speedy! Everything was packed well and no damage. I watched their instruction video a handful of times to make sure I knew all the steps.

Installation went well, only a couple snags (broken trim bolt wouldn't come out) and only small issue was tightening the brackets to the frame, they started spin as I was reaching the target torque so they would go out of alignment and had to have another tool to hold it still while tightening and wasn't easy.

I kept the trim panels on and with their measurements and a fine carbon jigsaw blade made the cuts and fit pretty good.

Overall very happy with them and being in the PNW I don't want to risk rust or any of that which is the main reason I went with these, but I do actually appreciate the raised grip holes for extra traction. I give a thumbs up for everything.
