That sound will take some getting used to with the windows rolled down.
So instead of hearing "just nature" its gonna sound like a jet flying overhead when offroad? Ugh.

What was the sound? Was that the battery management heating/cooling or what?

Its Rivian's low speed sound that is required under 15 mph I think. All EVs have to emit some sound to let you know of their presence by law.

Yeah, that same sound is present in other low-speed videos. Not my favorite, if I'm honest - not that I have an alternative. Funny that they make the lock 'chirp' an actual bird chrip, but the low-speed sound is like jet traffic. ?‍♂

The level of noise in those videos is quite jarring, if I'm honest, but I don't feel that they are entirely accurate. The unit I drove had the low-speed sound enabled, and I didn't find it to be excessive or even very noticeable in the real world. Perhaps there is something happening where the sound is amplified by the recording device when there is a lack of background noise (some sort of volume normalization)?

EDIT: Added my own video and you can tell that the noise is quieter than the rocks under the tires.

I don’t hate it. Wonder what size those tires are. They look bigger than a 34 or 35.

Looks like these could possibly be Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003LT. Closest size looks like a 285/55R22. Not my thing but hopefully whoever is running those will share fitment feedback with the community.

Pretty sharp. Anybody have an educated guess on which brand/type/size these are? Too blurry to zoom. Would also love to know ballpark range from the owner, if they happen to read this thread…
