My recent road trip in Northern WA …
The photo you posted shows you charging at a Tesla SuperCharger. I’m curious where it’s located. Thx!

Granted, here in the Florida Panhandle, we don't get super cold temperatures. We have had a number of nights dip into the 30's (F) over the last couple of weeks. Opal (our R1T) is an outside truck. We have carefully watched her state of charge after these cold nights. The most we have lost is 3 miles of range and 1% of charge overnight.

This is a Magic Dock station in Quincy, WA.. There are 3 Magic Dock stations in Washington, and 1 in Oregon right now. I opted to rely on this one even though it added 15 mins to our trip. I trust the Tesla network over many of the commercial ones. However, we had no issues with any on our trip.

Thx for that. I’m aware of those but when you mentioned northern WA I immediately scanned the border with Canada. My bad. :)

I wish I could say the same. My R1T loses 3-7 miles of range every day it sits outside in 35 degree weather. When on the road in temperatures between 30-35 degrees I can see the range draining before my eyes. 250 miles of range when I left my house last week fell to under 100 miles after driving only 75 miles! (heat set to 68 and no accessories plugged in).

I didn’t experience the same regarding range loss while parked. I live in Phoenix and parked my R1T at the airport in covered parking for almost exactly 7 full days (Jan 19-26). When I left it had 192 miles of range and when I returned it had 74 miles. Still plenty to get me home but I lost ~17 miles per day!! I didn’t put it in camping mode or anything. I just parked the vehicle, locked the doors and left. I have the latest software. The temps ranged from 35-60F during that time. Anything I should be doing to preserve range while parked?

did you have the app on your phone running ??
I recently left the car home for few days with the app totally off. I did not noticed any loss. But again, tried it few weeks after the latest update. But the app was on, and noticed some drop.

Wow, I am so sorry to hear. That’s wild! I don’t think I’m doing anything special. Just parking and leaving it!

Dude, this is an awesome picture. Just freaking awesome.
Thank you! I’m a photographer by trade so really enjoy taking photos of this thing. It’s hard to take a bad pic of it!

My recent road trip in Northern WA with temps to -13(f) saw about a 20% loss in optimal range. However, it was windy as hell from the side and head on and that also impacted things. Preconditioning helped a lot.

I was very happy that the efficiency was that good in those very harsh conditions.
I had an almost 500 mile trip yesterday into a 30 mph quartering wind and saw 1.9 mi/kwh efficiency on 21" tires at 72 mph with cruise set. The last 70 miles of the trip that 30 mph wind was at my back and efficiency jumped to 2.3 mi/kwh at 75 mph including a lot of hills between Midway, Tx and San Antonio on IH-10. Temps were in the upper 50s to mid 60s the whole time so I wasnt running AC or heat. Wind is a killer no matter what temp your are in.

I’m up in Telluride this weekend from Denver, my truck’s been parked out in the heavy snow for the past 2 days getting absolutely dumped on. I haven’t seen 1% even of range loss.

Go Rivian. Through lots of great software updates and tuning, no range loss at ALL!

Went to pick up some food after skiing today, pre-conditioned a good 10 min before getting in, completely warm and ready to go.

I really love this truck. A few winter pics because I haven’t shared in a while.

where are you charging in Telluride? I drove up to telluride from Phoenix but couldn’t find a usable route to allow me to drive my R1S I understand there will be a DCFC in Cortez soon. But nothing in Telluride for Rivian’s, I did email customer support about charging in the 4 Corners.

I charged up higher than I needed to when I was in Montrose heading into Telluride, I did not charge at all while I stayed in Telluride. I agree, there is not really any usable chargers in Telluride it seems.

New to EV - How do you do PREHEAT?
Does it mean warm up the cabin? or there is an explicit button that heats up the battery?
