Hi all,
Recently got the Range Industries Sierra mid-rack installed w/ an iKamper mini 3 on top.

Pros: Extraordinarily high-quality. The CNC machining on the uprights is beautiful.
Cons: I wish it was a little bit shorter, so the iKamper cap didn't protrude above the roofline.
Efficiency: 100 mile efficiency rating 1.56m/kWh:
  • 38f - 50f morning.
  • Combination of 75mph highway/35mph city driving
  • Tire pressures at 48psi cold, 51psi warm
We'll see if that improves over time.

I think it looks great at that heightā€¦much shorter and you lose the advantage of the bed rack over the OEM cross bars. I ordered my rack at 18 inches to maximize the bed room clearance under the RTT. Aero be damnedā€¦. Iā€™ve quit obsessing about every little aero component - just get out and use it.

Yeah, the problem re: aero is Texas. This state is kind of a camping/EV travel sh*thole (unless you're a hyper-rich ranch owner), so public land is always a 6 hour drive. Logistics become a problem when DCFC is so few and far between.

Iā€™d like it a bit shorter so a condor overland doesnā€™t exceed cab height. Then some ppf to cover rear cab spoiler holes

Yeah, I'm thinking about making some inserts for the spoiler holes that will deflect air up and over.

Someone did a video testing efficiency with RTT and the drive with painter's tape over the holes was better. Was thinking you wouldn't even see the PPF

What were you getting for efficiency with the tent mounted low? Or is this your first install?

Ok so that's a decent drop, 22ish%. Still considering these for our tent though. I think these are as low as I can go and still reasonably attach the annex.

I'm not 100% sure those numbers are correct. Need to collect more data, so take that 1.56 with a hefty pinch of salt. Only done 100 miles with it so far, and it was pretty cold out. My suspicion is that it'll net out to about 1.8m/kWh in the end.

looks good, but yeah, thatā€™s what Iā€™ve been holding out forā€¦a well made adjustable rack to keep everything aeroā€¦.

before a tailgate pad, we used a hitch mount bike rack with 3 MTBs on it..was getting well under 2kw/mileā€¦so aero is key!

ā˜ The rig in that video is exactly how I had the RTT arranged before installing the midrack. I averaged 1.99 without blanking out the spoiler vents over approx. 3000 miles.

Looks like a nice option.

I'd be personally, looking for a rack that levels with the roof mounted crossbars, so I can fit our full kayak across everything.
