About 500 chargers a month. 125 a week. 25 per day. Errr, if the R1T and R1S have had repeated delays. East is the odds of this many chargers going in the next 24 months?
You really have to think about it in terms of sites, not chargers, it's the site identification, procuring, planning and permitting that takes most of the time. So, it's 600 L3 sites, or 25/mo. The number of L2 sites is unknown but much more chargers per site, probably double, so that's about 830 sites or 35/mo. So, call it 60 sites per month. Still a tall task, and will surely be more back weighted, and probably slips into 2024 but not really a huge consideration as owners won't be using them frequently. You'll only notice if the one charger you will plan to use is delayed by a year.

Also, for at least one L2 site (Yellowstone I believe), they just bought existing chargers and rebranded them, so that's fairly easy. No idea how prevalent this approach will be.

Have noticed EA chargers at Sheetz, not any Tesla superchargers. Am planning one as a potential bathroom/charging stop for our monthly trip to visit family.
In Western PA, Sheetz has Tesla chargers at several locations.

I would expect them to do more in 2023 than 2022, it will be a ramp as there is a lag from identifying locations, getting all the agreements and then finally installing. So I expect they will hit their targets but more like one third and then two thirds rather than a 50:50 split between the two years.

Identifying sites? Hasn't the RAN map done that? When you live in cold northern Mid-Western states that are deficient in EV charging infrastructure site construction and notifications is badly needed to enable bev for road tripping

The map is intentionally vague. Think of it as small regions of interest have been identified and not specific sites.

Yep, the current RAN map is just general areas that they have identified as areas that are a good distance apart and will provide access to the types of activities they're marketing toward.

"Site selection" also requires finding a specific parking lot that makes sense for location and nearby amenities, evaluating the electrical service to the site, and getting a lease agreement or other type of contract with the owner, among other things. That can be a months-long process even when the site is planned for a smaller town with only a few viable properties to evaluate. And then once there's a contract in place with the owner, they still have to get through the permitting process and get the electrical service upgraded plus actually install the charging stations. Each one of those steps can take months.

For some perspective on all of this, Electrify America is currently developing its "Cycle 3" investment push. They're waiting for final approval of the plan from California and the US governments, which is required as part of the VW settlement that created EA. Cycle 3 will include $228 million in investment for the US outside of California -- they have separate Cycle 3 plans for California and not-California. Cycle 3 will get them to approximately 1,000 total locations nationwide. That's about 200 more than their plans at the end of Cycle 2. (600 total through Cycle 1, 800 total through Cycle 2, 1,000 total through Cycle 3)

Here's their timeline for Cycle 3. Note the lags between the start of each activity. They're figuring a minimum of 2 months for "site acquisition" before they can even start on design and permitting. And another 6 months minimum before they start construction. So 8 months minimum to acquire a site and move the first bit of dirt. On the outside, they're saying they will complete the last site acquisitions before Q3 of 2023 but won't finish the final construction tasks for another year afterward.

I'm sure some do, just the ones I have seen are EA. We have family out that way and luckily there are two between here and there that are both EA (also one in our town, but I doubt we will ever use that one). I don't anticipate having to use them with the max pack, but it might be nice to stop and top up when we get close so we don't have to charge while visiting for a weekend or a holiday.

Looks like all the hard work is out of the way though, should be easy enough to drop the chargers in and you're done.

Also nice that it looks like it will be set up well for towing, you could pull up horizontally on the backside and use one of the chargers without blocking any of the perpendicular spaces on the other side.
