So just to confirm this install type is not valid any more?
Works fine. It takes a while to shut off the aux power to the detector, and it will wake back up again if you either have your phone unlocking the car or gear guard on when you walk up.

And if heaven forbid it didn't turn off, it would probably take six months to drain the 12V battery, probably far longer than the parasitic loss will drain the main battery.

I accidentally popped off the mirror. Do you know how to reattach it?

I did the same. It twists on. Start about a third of a turn from straight(line up the three tabs) push hard against the windshield and turn. It took me a few tries but I got it back on.

I completed this today and the cover took quite a bit of effort to remove. Mine did not want to pop off. One of my plastic trim tools broke in the process. I resorted to a taped screwdriver to get enough leverage to pop it off.

I definitely recommend removing the metal clips, as jdubs suggested, to test fit before fully replacing the cover. Upon removal of the cover two of my clips were in the cover and two still attached on the windshield. Just pop them all back on the windshield side when you're ready to install. Re-install the larger portion of the cover and then you can easily pop the smaller portion back in from above the mirror.

That deal on the R8 and R7 is too good to be true and note that it is the Uniden Store. So I hit buy on the R8.

I used to geek out on countermeasures, cause well, it was a requisite to keeping a license. Had a stealth installed Bel Stir Radar and LI jammer setup on a heavily modified Audi S7.

Below review seems pretty solid and the R8 has some decent laser detection sans jammer. It's a bit bulky but so is the R1T.

Scam, for sure. Vortex Radar was just posting recently about too-goo-to-be-true pricing on these.
Awe hell. I'm dumb. Looks like scammer somehow mirrors themselves as being "Uniden Store". Not sure how that is possible on Amazon?

Info - New Amazon Scam on Uniden Detectors | Radar Detector & Countermeasure Forum (rdforum.org)

EDIT: I notified Amazon about scammer and cancelled transaction fairly easily. Amazon replied that "Seller is no longer active on Amazon."

None of my local car audio shops are willing to hardwire my radar detector. Anyone have instructions or wiring diagrams I can provide them?

I just bought a 12’ power cord with the “cigarette lighter” plug from Escort. I plan to run it behind the dash along the windshield, down the driver side and back to the center under the infotainment screen. I am fortunate to have the 12V accessory plug under the dash there. I’ll just plug in there and hide the cord.

Doesn’t specifically answer your question but if you have the 12V plug, maybe skip any other wiring headaches? Good luck…

So...completed the install yesterday. I couldn't find any kind of mirror mount for the radar detector (Escort 360) that didn't put the mirror itself in a bind. So, instead, I used a windshield mount low with the detector resting on the center dash.

My other desire was to use a mirror tap style cord run straight behind the dash and into the 12v plug directly above the lower center console. This would have left the 12v available for other uses. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone who would manufacture the tap style cord longer than 20" and I figured I needed ~36" to not be stretched. Ugh.

So, I bought the 12' Escort 12v plug/RJ-11 cord. I routed it along front of dash (along the windshield) up the passenger A-pillar then down behind the bottom of the dash to the 12v plug. Works great and was exactly long enough. Cord is mostly invisible with only slight vis issue in middle of A-pillar cover along the windshield. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it...it's awesome to get the coiled power plug version off the dash. Also, I didn't have to dig for the fuse block and guess where to piggyback for power and I can "undo" everything easily if I so choose.

This is another reason for Rivian NOT to delete the 12v power access on the dash...
