I am thinking those are more along the lines of Magnaride, or a equivalent to it.
It is an equivalent. Magneride uses a magnetic field to vary the viscosity of fluid traveling through a fixed orifice. CVSAe uses a variable orifice to adjust flow to effect the level of dampening.

I would consider Magneride to be slightly superior as it is constructed from solid state components while CVSAe has a solenoid controlling the variable orifice.

Magneride in a car with starting price of $45k is straight up wishful thinking. Rivian is aiming to maximize profit, not lose their pants.

Those are Monroe dampers.

Sway bar design is a nice non interference design so it can easily be disconnected off road.

Cadillac gets close with the CT4v, Ford gets close with the GT Mach-E also. I suspect the $45k model will not have this, but also don't believe that near $45k base model will not come out anytime soon, if at all.

Why name it Maximus? We all know what happened to Maximus in the Gladiator?
Not sure if it was intentional, I’m guessing so, Maximus is RJ’s son’s name. He said he was very happy about the naming of the next gen R2 motors in the investor day presentation where he mentioned it was his son’s name. This was a 3 hour 45 minute event that can be viewed on YouTube.

Its exciting to see them moving closer with R2.

Rivian needs to take cost out in order to be competitive on pricing. Esp considering the talk of the Federal EV credit going away. Right now, Rivian doesn't have much competition but the R2 will see fierce competition.

R2 isn't meant to be an economy vehicle. Sure they want it to be affordable compared to similar vehicles in the market segment, but they aren't looking for this to be a $25,000 vehicle...

They have said ad nauseam that choice is important and right now there aren't many compelling choices for EVs which I agree. There are not many nice software defined vehicles with great performance & interior at a reasonable price point. Polestar 3 is very expensive, BMW & Mercedes are very expensive and cannot touch Tesla/Rivian on performance / software. Porsche Macan is extremely overpriced and disappoints in performance. Lyriq is overpriced and disappointing compared to Model Y Performance. No one is really competing with Tesla on value for performance/range/comfort.

Bolt/Equinox/Kia/Hyundai/Mustang are all in a lower tier for quality, software, & performance.

R2 will sell extremely well as it's not trying to be something it isn't and it's filling a very popular slot of vehicles that sells extremely well. The average new vehicle selling price in the USA is north of 50k.

If you know suspension, this thing will handle really well. The sway has to be at least 24mm.

I want to see the R2 with a lift and 35s 😁

Off road capability is going to shape my buying decision on this crossover. Offering a real front or dual lockers would make this a lock for me. My R1T is great for most off roading situations but the lack of lockers has made me turn around every once in a while.

Agreed Magneride is superior to this setup due to how fast it can adjust on the fly, valve based setups can't change fluid pressures as quickly. I have it on my CTS Vsport and that car has spoiled me for the ride and handling balance it can provide, you'd never expect a car with that smooth and supple ride can take an on ramp at 3x the posted limit without switching to sport or race mode but when you do the ride turns as hard as a go kart with minimal body roll, currently that is the holy grail of suspensions for on road vehicles.

I noted that as well. I assumed its beefy dimensions were related to R2s weight as much as for sporty handling.

I am guessing weight will be somewhere around 5500llbs/6k which isnt that much imho
