Was hoping more 4Runner sized, not sure if it will be big enough for family of 4 camping with dog/gear/food. We’ll see once we can actually test drive one (have reservation).
It’s almost the same as the 3rd gen 4Runner and only 6” shorter than current gen 4Runner.

3rd gen was a good size, hoping it feels similar.

Mach E and Model Y aren’t comparable to me, the hatch kills cargo space and they can’t handle more than a gravel road. I’m just not a fan of tall cars 😆

Probably not Merc GLB, but EQB. To be clear, the EQB is a mall crawler not an aspiring "Adventure" vehicle , but has good utility especial for Costco runs! I added some more specs to consider comparisons. I didn't include charging, the EQB is anemic.

While elec are always the obvious comparisons, I think owners/potential buyers of BMW X3, Audi Q5, Merc GLC are all realistic possibilities.

Although we were interested in the elec revolution, we didn't jump until the R1S - never considered another electric. The R1S is/was the closest size-wise to meet the needs of our family and ultimately was the reason we finally moved over.

Correct - I currently have an Audi Q5 and am looking at a R2. The R1S is too big for me. Was looking for similar dimensions as the Q5 (would be okay with being slightly better, but not smaller than the Q5).

Model Y would fit for me, but I was hoping for more of a blocky, rugged shape than the typical aerodynamic egg shape.

I hope R2 competes with the Rav4! Toyota sold almost half a million of those things last year in the US. And the year before. And the year...
Convert some of these drivers and my stock may get back to where I bought it.

Approach and departure angle comparisons?

32" wheel max?

If this can follow my R1T off-road, I'd force my wife to get it 😂

Oof, windows rolling up is another miss for use in rain. When the windows roll to the bottom you can unzip them just a little keeping the open gap closer to the fly/overhang allowing less water to get in with wind driven rain.
The door opening is also bad. The tent as a whole is poorly designed. Impractical for anything except sunny weather. Not surprised by that… they should’ve just worked with someone like ikamper or Roofspace to create a custom model and co-brand it. Let them handle production and storage, and give Rivian a cut.

It is basically an Audi Q5
184″ L x 75″ W x 66″ H

Audi sells a ton of those its a perfect size
Q5 size is perfect for my wife and me. I had a 2011 Q5 until I traded it in for the R1S. The R1S is great, but it's definitely bigger than we need. If the rear cargo area is similar in size to the Q5 plus a frunk, that'd be amazing.

I've owned several 4runners and look all over the R2 in person. It's inside dimensions are more roomy than a 4runner.

Wheelbase of 115 is only 6 inches shorter than R1S, should make for a great ride.

Definitely will, rode in the backseat of a buddies 5th gen over the weekend and my head was brushing the headliner. Granted I’m 6’1” and it had a sunroof that would take more room than the glass roof in this … it was pretty tight.

That’s not what they are shooting for. If you want that, then it’s R1

Was hoping for a bit smaller vehicle for the wife, she parks in a garage for work so smaller and shorter wheelbase would be nice. That’s the backup plan if it’s too small …
