I was at Tysons yesterday and stopped by the Lucid showroom. Their car is there but they don’t have it turned on and you can’t sit in it —it’s labeled “preproduction”. They have a few displays of their impressive engineering (motor, battery pack etc) and a front seats, interior mock-up (also, oddly, not turned on and roped off). Their associates were eager to chat about the car. After all the glowing write ups, especially Motor Trend’s car of the year, I expected it to somehow be lower and wider than it was —it’s bigger than but stylistically kind of close to a Honda Accord what with the aluminum front grill etc. Still, nice looking just not “wow that’s clearly a six-figure car”. Interior, however, was spectacular with lots of room from what I could see thru the glass. Regardless, I’ve now gotten closer to a Lucid than I have a Rivian and I don’t have a deposit on a Lucid. Sure wish Rivian would give us a chance to check them out when they’re here in DC area greasing lawmakers.
