Took delivery yesterday of R1T Tri from El Segundo Service Center. It was supposed to have been delivered to Eastvale SC near my home, but there was a goof. Elliot at Eastvale followed up the day before scheduled delivery and arranged for a Lyft to schlep me 60 miles to El Segundo so I could take delivery on Christmas Eve as originally scheduled. And earlier in the day at 1000, much better than original 1530 time. Mistakes happen in business all the time. But how one judges a company is how they own up to the error and resolve it. Rivian quickly provided a timely solution at no cost to the user. Jessie at El Segundo went over all the vehicle basics very well.

The R1T Tri has blown away all my expectations. This vehicle is so smooth and quiet and accelerates like nobody's business. The driving safety features are amazing. The cameras are so crisp and clear they see into the future. The Ascend pleated seat are incredibly comfortable. The build quality inside and outside appears to be absolutely outstanding. The premium audio system performance is excellent. The Rivian Blue paint really stands out and catches the eye of distracted drivers. Level 2 charging from dryer socket overnight went well and added 11 miles of range per hour, which is fine while I wait for the Rivian wall mounted charging device and electrician I install.

The 22 inch all season tires handle great on pavement and will be fine when aired down for the modest off-road paths and trails I drive (I don't do hard core rock crawling).

Proximity Lock/unlock based on my phone works great. I keep the key card in my wallet and simply touching the wallet to the handle unlocks the vehicle, no need to remove card from wallet.

The R1T Tri is worth raiding the retirement account to buy. Every dime is well spent. Rivian is doing EVs right and will become a powerful player in the automotive industry. Look out, Elon. Drive well.

the customer service attitude, and how they make up for their mistakes definitely sets Rivian apart from other car companies. I hope they can scale that out in years to come with R2 launch, and potentially 10x more customers that might bring.

congrats on the new R1T!

Please update your experiences of moving from quad to tri. I have to make appointment with SC for few issues here and there nothing major. But for some reason I think acceleration is below expectations if you are moving from quad to tri. Even tri is like 20 hp more and more torque as well. There was update that fixed it but I don't feel it. That's why please update your experience on that.

Is this your first rivian or you traded another to get Tri. If traded how is your experience between this and what ever you traded.

My cabin is not quite. It's much better than quad. But still wind noise here and there.

Yes, unless one does not happen to have the phone then secondary or tertiary methods are available such as key card and carbineer (when in stock for second generation). Will also play with Pixel 3 watch as a digital key. When camping especially redundancy is of value.

Good question. I had a '22 R1T Quad that I traded and originally took delivery of in September of '22. I wrote a few posts about the differences between the two that I will link to below.
