Gideon the Rivian is towing a mustang on an open trailer. They posted this screenshot of the night time view. You can see 44 miles of predicted range with 37% battery remaining! They are going 73 mph in this pic. Their set up is 14,260 lbs in total (includes the truck). It will take a patient person to tow anything substantial over long distances.

Ugh, look at that phone stuck to the windshield. Disgusting! THIS is why we need CarPlay/AndroidAuto.

Wake up, Rivian!

And assuming that estimate is accurate, that's only 118 miles range for 135kWh. Yuck. ~1,281 W/mi at the plug (compared to 480 W/mi, not towing).

They are also driving 73 mi/hr. Drop that down to 60-62 mi/hr towing this much weight and you will see a much better range. This is true of ALL towing, not just the Rivian.

There could be additional factors like weather, elevation etc, so it's hard to know the complete story. But yeah 118 miles of range isn't great.

It will be interesting to see how a lighter camping trailer that is semi-aerodynamic might improve things.

If Rivian would allow there “ customers “ to actually give out information about the vehicle they have purchased then maybe we would have some third party information wouldn’t we.

Using it for navigation!!
Using Waze. Probably for speed trap and hazard notifications. No other nav app does that as well.

That sounds about right. 314 miles - 15% for 20” A/T - 10% speed/weather/ 2 for towing = 120 miles
Max pack may only improve to maybe ~ 156 miles.

I would love to see a comp chart for different options but that mustang looks mighty low profile and aerodynamic. I don’t know how much better than that you can get. If the range drops that much with this setup I doubt airstream would do that much better. It looks like until we get a warp drive upgrade car camping in R1S may be the way to go.

Not worried. Keeping F-250 for trailering anyway.

Now we’re getting somewhere. Scratching the surface.

You're assuming way to much...........for not being there and knowing the circumstances.
