Drove Charleston to Greenville (200 miles on interstate) last week with a full bed (king mattress shown on the right). Gear tunnel and frunk were also fully loaded.

Not even a hint of problems, made it to

the destination with 80 miles to spare.
Good thinking! If you run out of juice you are carrying backup transportation!

If it was up to my son that's where he would have ridden for the entire drive. I told my wife that his birthday present is going to be a set of Rivian decals for it.

That’s a good joke. The Rivian isn’t a huge truck but it does have a decent payload. Mine is 1559lbs which is almost dead even between one of my old Tacomas (1150lbs) and my old 2500HD (1950lbs).
Do you mind posting your payload sticker off the door jamb, and letting me know also whether you have spare, wheel size, tonneau and off-road skid plate.

No spare included (added after delivery), 20” ATs, working tonneau and standard underbody.

Interesting read. I have a R1T on order. I'm also contemplating an F250 tremor. The ONLY use case I can really make for the F250 is that I might want to tow my Wrangler out to Moab or other off-road destinations so if it breaks, I can still drive home. But I don't even know if I will do that, or how often it would be if I did buy a truck and vehicle trailer. I don't own a boat or RV currently.

So aside from that task, the Rivian would cover the other 99% of "truck duties" I could throw at it.

My only other hesitation is the truck would be the family vacation hauler for 4. I'm a little afraid of trying to do a long haul road trip in an EV. I read horror stories about charging stations being broken, waiting in line, or they're not even where the map says they should be. I'm sure this will improve over time, but being an early adopter has its issues.
