Hi all,

I looked on this part of the forum and couldn't find anyone else who has posted this problem I'm experiencing.

My home charger is set to charge every nite from 11pm to 4 am. 3 nites of the last 10 it hasn't charged.

I'm hoping the new update will fix it, but confidence is waning in this vehicle, it is for work...

its not the charge port itself as it does charge. its some sort of software timing issue or switching issue with the vehicle or the charger.

Any one else experience something like this? I've logged 4 times its done this, the first one or two I just thought it was a fluke like maybe I didn't plug it in all the way.....

thanx for reading, Mike

Do you have the Rivian L2 wall charger? I found that mine stopped charging and it turned out that the cause was the 6ga wiring inside the unit was not torqued down enough and it was causing it to start to overheat and melt the contacts/wire. The charger has a safety mechanism that monitors the current and would shut itself down, but it doesn't have any sort of useful UI or diagnostic to tell the cause. I didn't figure it out until I opened it up and checked the connections.

Did it stop working all together?

I have the stock Rivian Charger, and the problem is intermittent, and no heat in wires or charger (often indicates malfunction/resistance, you probably know but others reading this may not)

thanx, M

Mine would try and charge for 5-10 minutes and then shut itself off after a while. When I would find it in the morning, the light bar was red instead of green or white.

I had this issue before. Rivian told me to go thru reset of the charger and car. I believed it is turn off the circuit breaker for two minutes. turn it back on and wait at least two minutes. While doing that, do a hard reset of the vehicle.

Are you charger more than 1 car? I've had same experience with my R1T and Rivian Charger, but it seems to happen after I charge my wife's Ioniq.

Try scheduling the charging window in the vehicle instead of the charger.

Hard wired, non portable.
This is a known issue for a while that was fixed with a firmware update. It has to be specifically pushed by support, won't just happen on its own. Start a problem report and mention that another owner had the same issue and it was fixed with firmware V03.04.12.

It'll come on its own. I have V03.04.12 and have never put in a ticket or had it pushed.

it didn't, and they told me it wouldn't. May be different hardware. This was many months ago.
🤷‍♂️ All I know is that it came to me without prompting. I've had version W1-1113-3RV3 since 2022 for reference.
