I have owned my R1T for a month. I decided to actually document the battery drain during a 24 hour period after charging to 85%.

I was a bit shocked to discover that the truck lost 7 miles/2% of the battery charge in a tad over 24 hours. Truck was parked outside with overnight temps in the 50’s and low 60’s during the day.

I am curious. Are fellow members experiencing the same amount of battery pack drain?

There may be some variability among the R1 fleet as to the vampire drain but that is not an unusual number based on my testing. You can find a few threads on this forum discussing vampire drain experiences.

I see an average of 1.7% at ambient temperatures above freezing. The average below freezing is 4%. However there is a fair amount of variability from test to test.

Parked in my garage, at a temp of about 45F, unlocked, I lose about 3-4% per day, it's pretty bad. My running theory is it's too close to my phone and the fob to fully go to sleep, but I haven't gotten around to testing out this theory, but I don't usually see it asleep when at home.

I consistently lose roughly 2-4% per day sitting outside in Seattle. Past few weeks have been between upper 30s and mid 50s. Not too pleased.

I've started the habit of closing the app when I'm home. I think it helps, but I haven't recorded it too extensively. Plus with parking outdoors, there are too many factors to consider.

Thanks for the replies. I must admit that I am a bit shocked by the large amount of battery drain when the vehicle is idle.

Part of me wished I kept my F-150 that I flipped for the Rivian. The Lightning had close to zero vampire drain over a weeks time. It’s a night and day difference between the two BEV pickups. At .29 cents per kWh my R1T is costing me money to just leave it parked.

Where in the hell is the Rivian drawing power from that the Lightning does not?

I was losing about 3-4 miles a day (overnight) here in "not-freezing" San Diego. I don't use PAAK and am logged out of the app. Don't use gear guard. I posted something in another thread and a forum member suggested to me to turn off climate control when not in the vehicle. This seems to have helped reduce the drain to 1-2 miles overnight. I am less bothered by losing a mile or two overnight vs carefully driving 6 miles and watch 10 miles of range disappear. But I ultimately don't care as I love the truck and have free electricity from our solar array. And I bought the truck to have fun, not to save money. Now my boat is a different sort of money pit, but also still too fun to sacrifice.

Wonder how much power the R1 fleet wastes in a given month, 25k+ vehicles vampire draining the grid....how 🍃 green 🍃

Someone plowed into my EV6, it sat for almost 3 week getting repaired; I occasionally logged in to my app to check surround photos and check to see where it had been (it does not do video); it essentially lost 1% over that timeframe....also, when I've flown out of town it has sat 4 day without even losing 1%. Something gives with Rivian; 🤞they'll fix it sooner than later. I hate burning energy unnecessarily and am expecting delivery within 2 months.

Agreed...........we put in the solar to be green and create energy so certainly prefer not to waste it. We also have 2 Teslas and neither of them have any significant battery drain for weeks on end.

I expected our new R1T to be similar to our 2021 Tesla Model Y. It’s not even close.

I see about a 1% loss overnight so seems right.

I lose about 1-2% over night but just gained a percent about 20 minutes ago ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

From 5PM Monday until 6AM Wednesday (37 hours) I lost 3% battery. The truck has been in my garage, proximity at home disabled, gear guard disabled, and the app on my phone closed. I'm going to open a service request today about this, it's ridiculous and unacceptable IMO.

I'm going to leave my car at the airport this weekend for 3.5 days (100 miles from home) and I'm not sure I can deal with a 10% loss without having to make an extra stop to recharge on the way home.

Just trying to do some math. If the truck loses 1% overnight, let's call that 1.25 kWh, divided by 12 hours.. That's about 100W continuous power draw. It does sound really high to me, like having a 100W light bulb on continuously. What in the world is using so much juice??
