We just returned from a 1900 mile road trip in our R1S from central Florida to northern Kentuckky. The vehicle was comfortable and performed well. I especially liked the cruise control, the drive assist, and the recent upgrade that keeps the drive assist engaged when changing lanes. However, we were greatly disappointed with our charge station experience. There was only one charging station on our trip that was in the Rivian Adventure Network. The Electrify America charging stations were inconsistent in the charging speed. We used the Hyper Fast charger and the speed to charge to 80% varied from 42 minutes to 80 minutes. Unfortunately, there were no two bolt or three bolt charging stations within 25 miles of our destination. The additional shock and disappointment was how expensive the charge stations were. The cost for charging on this trip was over $100 more than we would have paid for gas. It was also disconcerting that no fast charging stations were available within 25 miles of our destination.

Yeah, charging is still the wild west out there - probably will be into the near future. EA has been raising prices lately, but I'm surprised to hear you spent more than what gasoline would have cost? I guess that reflects gas prices being low where you traveled, because that certainly isn't the case here.

Are you a member of the EA pass+? You get discounted rates when you pay the $7 monthly fee. If you don't charge at EA often you can just turn that on before a trip with multiple stops - it is still worth it.

Regarding the charging speeds, many find it actually saves time to charge at the 150 KW/h chargers vs the 350.
