I was able to reserve the R1S back in 2021 and was waiting patiently for the car. And then the news hit that the car prices were going up and those who had reservations before the price lift were also impacted, and then they took it back. The problem is that since English is not my primary language, there was a bunch of confusion on my part. I believed that my pre-March 1 reservation would be impacted by the price increase, and that led to my decision to cancel my pre-order.

But now I’ve done more research, I now realize that my original pricing may have been locked in b/c to my early reservation. Had I fully understood that my pricing was protected, I would not have canceled my order.

I've email their customer support with no luck on getting them to honor my pre-March price increase. Has anyone else experienced something similar like this and were able to get the old price put back in?

Its irrelevant at this point because all early reservation holders were required to select vehicles from the shop by Sep 30 of last year. Anyone that did not do so would pay whatever current pricing is.

Regardless, if I recall correctly, people that canceled their order after the March 1, 2022 price increase announcement but wanted back in after Rivian changed course, only had a couple of months in which to do so.

You can’t play the non-English card both ways - you understood it at the time well enough to rage cancel.

Unfortunately these folks are correct. For pre price hike reservation holders Rivian switched to a voucher system. When they did this, only inventory vehicles could be purchased at the lower pricing using the “voucher”. The vouchers expired in Sept of 24.

There is no way to get the early reservation pricing at this point.

With that said, Rivian just released updated leasing prices and they have incentives on Dual & Tri Max vehicles ranging from $3,000 to $6,000.

Also never been a better time to pickup a used Gen 1 as the used prices are an exceptional value IMO.

Very strange post.

Your English post herein is just fine. I think you need to own it. Expired.

I cancelled my order when they jacked prices and said they would not honor it for anyone who had not taken delivery yet. That just left a bad taste in my mouth. They reversed course, and I messaged them to explain I still wanted the vehicle at the original price. They reinstated my preorder.

I did that within a couple of days, but would not expect them to do it years later. You missed out, and it's WAY to late to do anything about it.

You cancelled in 2021, it is now 2025 and you want them to reinstate your preorder? You should know the answer to that one without asking.

The pre-order pricing ship has long sailed. Buy a barely used 2023 and you'll get better than pre-order pricing. As others have mentioned, a used Gen 1 is an excellent value. Just 2 years ago I sold my Model Y for about 7k more than what I was able to pick up a barely used Gen 1 for. If you are price conscious, buy a used Gen 1 (2022-2024). A lot of great deals out there.

None of what you’ve stated above aligns with your post history. You clearly stated that you still had your pre-price hike reservation still in place as of July 2023, had access to the R1 shop, were receiving email updates about your order, and were waiting for a max pack vehicle to be available.

Something very fishy going on here.
