View attachment 131661 It’s with a heavy heart that I post this. A Rivian fan here. This vehicle is awesome. Drives great, feels great. Had decided to keep it forever. Then this happened. Look at this photo. It’s a low speed injury. What’s your best guess how much should this cost? I know it’s hard to guess just based on looks, but let me give you some more information. No battery damage, no major frame damage.
Anyone looking to buy a Rivian, please look online and a very quick search will reveal horror stories. I had read about those and I was always very careful. Driving in the slow lane, no crazy acceleration etc etc. And yet this happened.
I can't believe I had to read through three pages of comments to find the answer. That sucks. But I'm guessing there was more stuff going on underneath. The flat tire, etc., as someone else mentioned.Yes 50k - totaled
Winner!!Sorry about the accident. Hope everyone is okay.
$51,000 is my guess. What do I win?
I don’t know about this particular incident but the bottom line is it’s extremely expensive to repair this car. I spoke with the technician today and he mentioned that it would be necessary to replace a whole lot of things as he doesn’t know if it can affect the heating of the battery. Also please check some other posts and see for yourself. A small ding near the light cost an owner 41k. He also mentioned Gen 1 is a lot more than Gen2 as the newer generation has simplified wiring.Maybe this is like the guy who hit " a small piece of metal," and it turned out to be a freeway guardrail when he wasn't paying attention, going at least 50mph. I bet this guy ran into a concrete wall or something. Post the video of the crash, and let us decide if it was minor as you claim.
So it wasn’t minor as you initially claimed, got it.I don’t know about this particular incident but the bottom line is it’s extremely expensive to repair this car. It looks like a minor accident; perhaps the Rivian kind of self-destructed on the inside. I wouldn't be surprised. So it wasn’t minor as you initially claimed, got it.
Even if they weren't at fault, there are reasons not to file a claim. For example, it may make you ineligible for an umbrella policy (again, regardless of fault).Only $500 (deductible) and no points on your record, because you have insurance and you weren't at fault.
Right?
Riiiiiiiiight?
