I've seen a lot of nice solutions which cover the entire 2nd row but I have a child seat on one side. Do they make half or 3/4 covers for dogs?

Right now I have a moving blanket that I keep in the frunk (under the first layer) but would prefer another solution.
My canvasback 2nd row cover is modular as to which seats/backs are covered. If you want an elegant looking partial coverage solution, it's probably the best I've seen yet. With that said, I think "you're doing it wrong" if you're specifically trying *not* to have something under a carseat... like... dude, that's the most important place to have a layer of coverage because spills will get ground into the pleather by the carseat base, you can't clean it right away without removing the seat, etc. Note that every custom solution I've had (from to cheap Chinese covers to Canvasback) all officially and relatively elegantly allow for seatbelt and LATCH based mounting.

I may have misspoke. I do have a carseat protector under the child seat. He's also old enough where I don't have to worry about spills. If anything, there are some occasional crumbs but I can deal with that.

But the other seat/middle seat has no protection since I have people sitting there occasionally. When I want my dog in the car, I'd like to have a protection layer.

If I use a combination protector for both under the child seat and the rest of the 2nd row, it isn't something I can easily remove when I have people sitting there.

I hope that makes sense.

Can you share what you have from Amazon? I agree that Canvasback looks nice and well-made but I'm not sure I need to spend 5x over.
This model from May of 2016... honestly the fabric is like 95% the same as Canvasback and it's in pretty solid condition given full use for almost a decade (which I'm just realizing now). The only thing that broke is the clips used to hold the strap behind the headrest (to hold the seatback portion up). Those broke maybe two years ago and I just tie the strap with a knot and everything's been fine. Completely waterproof, kiddo's have spilled collective gallons of milk and it wipes and washes away perfectly and never a drip made it through.

This uses a clever mounting technique with a 4" section of PVC tube that you push into the hipjoint slot between seat and back as the main mounting technique (as opposed to elastic straps near the edges). It works well but I don't like it because some cars have wires that run in that area and over may installation-and-removal duty cycles you could eventually damage those.

What are you getting with Canvasback over this item?
* marginally better material... maybe like 5% better

* probably better stitching and assembly, to be fair the cheap one has *not* failed, but the Canvasback looks a *tiny* bit better to the naked eye.

* very clean custom fit. It looks way nicer

* very good modularity (keep 60%, ditch 40% on one side, etc etc).

We used: 4Knines Dog Seat Cover with Hammock for Fold Down Rear Bench Seat 60/40 Split and Middle Seat Belt Capable - Heavy Duty - Black Regular - for Cars, SUVs, and Small Trucks - USA Based Company https://a.co/d/gipUDs4

I can post pictures later today with car seats. I’ll order something similar for the third row. This was previously in our RR.

I think I follow. Let me triple down on the full-seat-but-modular solutions. I just ran outside to snap this pic of my CB (as you can see it's still new and showing the OEM fold marks!). I traced the Velcro lines in red to show where you could remove panels. Depending on your exact carseat config and choices, I think this could get you good coverage and modularity w/doggo.

I haven't tested with my dog, but the surface fabric feels like it would quickly vacuum out perfectly^ so I likely wont feel bad putting normal passengers directly on the base. After a few solutions with carseat protectors I definitely recommend buying a unitized device for the entire bench that can come apart, instead of having individual protectors, which helps with the mechanical fit and retention for all parts involved.

^ this is a double-edged-sword. The other cover I have is slightly softer and more like the loop half of Velcro, meaning it kinda traps dog hair. I actually love that; I've always felt that ever dog hair that rubs-and-traps on the cover is a hair that's not floating around in the cabin ready to stick on something else!

This is great, thank you! I wasn't aware they had solutions where you could remove sections. And Velcro makes it very easy too.

And apologies, did you have a link to it? I see an Amazon one but it appears to be different.

Thanks, I have something similar for our dog in the second row (more of a hammock style) but she is getting relegated to the third row very soon and there don't seem to be any options for a 2-seat bench cover (unless I'm searching for it wrong). Canvasback's modularity as well like you mentioned is pretty unique and can be really helpful ... but 💸💸
