I just took possession of a used 2022 R1S Launch Edition with Meridian Audio.

The bass sound is very good, powerful, deep, maybe a little too loud.

The mids and trebles are very poor, muffled, distorted, quiet.

I noticed that with 3D sound on enhanced, is barely any sound coming out of the 4 ceiling speakers (picture 1) and 2 front pillar speakers (picture 2). So little that even with my ear touching it, I can barely hear anything. With 3D sound off, there is no sound coming out of any of these speakers.

For reference, I have test driven a 2025 Kia EV9 with Meridian Audio. I also have a Tesla Model Y LR. The audio on both of those vehicles is good/great.

Is there a problem with my R1S or is this just how it sounds?

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Try an infotainment reset to see if that helps - it generally clears up weirdness that I've seen in the audio. IMO the Meridian on the Gen1 trucks is generally very good (I have a T, so with an S YMMV)

(note: I don't use 3D enhanced so can't talk apples:apples)

That's when you press left button and hazard lights button? I've tried that and it didn't make any difference.

Yeah. For me, I can hardly hear them. Try turning volume up decently, then toggling on/off while touching them. You should feel a vibration change in the housing.

I had this yesterday morning, infotainment reset cleared it up. It seems to be a bug from the last update. It almost sounded like it was playing in Karaoke mode because the vocals were so muffled.

The 3D sound is really stupid and you get random results. The DSP is trying to guess at locations that would make sense and it's never right. With real Atmos music, those little speakers should be extremely subtle and also only used if the song needs it (has data for that location). I've measured them and stuck my head on them, and they are doing something, but it's very low, just to "hint" at location info.

That’s a hard reset. Infotainment is far left and far right steering wheel buttons
