So if LE R1T's got pushed back to September, but the R1S is still a go for next month? I smell shenanegans here/something doesn't add up ?
No, RJ's delay email said "shortly thereafter in the fall" for R1S.

So I am guessing February of 2022 is when we will start seeing R1S SUV's and then everyone will be completed by June of 2022. I ordered may of 2019 so Im probably looking at March/April of 2022 if I had to have a "BEST" guess.
I'm playing this balancing game too - LE R1S, July 2020 preorder, Seattle. Assuming what RJ said in his last email holds true, my best guess is also March/April 2022 for my delivery.

Based on how things have gone so far though I wouldn't be surprised if there are additional delays. Maybe not in getting the first vehicles to customers, but definitely in getting production ramped up to where a majority of LE customers have their Rivians in hand by June 2022.

Has there been any discussion/speculation on the number of LE preorders on R1S vs. R1T? If the first R1S delivery begins in Feb 2022, there probably aren't too many LE preorders if it can be finished by June 2022, right?

Not really but from another forum survey tracked thru google results we have

R1T694
R1S495

I guess the truck initially is a lot more popular but with all that being said Ill taper my own expectations as I have seen every delay really happen prior based off of lack of rollout evidence.

In any case I think realistic for R1S deliveries will be starting in the dead of winter and then really get kicked off in Feb/March of next year if they are still scheduling trucks for January etc.

Pure speculation, but I'm guessing 15K Launch Edition vehicles. At a 55/45 split, that's 8250 R1T & 6750 R1S.

In light of the additional delay & possibly even a slower ramp, I seriously doubt all LEs are delivered by end of June 2022.

I will be surprised if LE deliveries are completed before 2023. "Under promise, over deliver"

I had hoped to surprise my family on our annual camping trip by showing up with the R1S towing my trailer memorial weekend, but that doesn't seem feasible any longer. Bummer, but we will keep waiting.

You can't do it in 2022, but should be doable in 2023 (fingers crossed)! ;)

8 years ago when Tesla started selling the Model S they were delivering about 600 cars per week. Given that Rivian has raised $10.5 bil, I would think that they should certainly be able to match that number. Does anyone have an idea of how many LE preorders there might be? 15000 should be delivered by Jun '22

Not at the beginning. Tesla delivered the first Model S in June of 2012 and their total deliveries in 2012 was 2,650 cars averaging about 94 units a week in 2012.

They did better in 2013 delivering 22,477 units globally averaging about 432 a week.

They did not average 600 a week until their third year, 2014, 31,655 units globally averaging 608 units per week.

I think a lot has been learned from Tesla paving the way, so ramp up should be a bit faster for new companies following them. But I’d be shocked if Rivian produces more than 10,000 R1’s by this time next year. I’d say 6,000 is a more likely number.

I think the only unknown is how quickly the pressures on the supply chains will recover. We are starting to see signs of things getting better with other manufacturers and product lines. Fingers crossed that continues, it was a different world back in 2012-2014.

A big unknowns among a lot of unknowns is how they are going to handle LE delivery’s to areas without service centers. Thier actions so far seem to be saying no service center= no delivery. They definitely won’t have service centers build out nationally by spring of 22

It baffles me how Rivian's production numbers and schedules are speculated/guessed and attempted to be rationalized by different outsiders with incredible data sources. Preorder holders need to view these numbers as entertainment only, and hopefully will not base financial or lifestyle decisions on any numbers or timing that I've seen here.

I talked a bit about this with my guide. I'll just say they have a plan and close proximity to a Rivian service center isn't a requirement for delivery. That being said I'm guessing there will be a period of time at the start of deliveries where they want vehicles near service centers to be able to quickly address any early issues discovered and make production adjustments as needed.
