This tread is meant to serve as a reference and help us understand what is going on inside R1. The photos I am posting is from a video that is more than a year old and not from a production vehicle. I am hoping you will post updated information as you come across them. Hopefully this will serve DIY folks or those looking for better understanding of how things are put together.

Let me know if any of them are in conflict with production in any major way and I will remove it.

Does anyone know where the tow truck is suppose to attach the tow hooks to pull your R1 on the flat bed if you don't have the off-road upgrade with tow hooks?

Edit: I just chatted with CS and they told me the only way to be pulled from the front is to get the off-road package. I have a hard time believing this is true. If any of you guys attach your own hooks, please share the process here.

Do you think this is where the hooks are attached?

Interesting that the tires are 275/60/20...not 275/65/20.

Excellent idea. Must have taken you awhile to snap these from the video.

Max I believe what you circled in red might be air inlets that get ducted to provide cooling for something. Saw those openings in another video and that's what struck me as to their purpose although my confidence on that is low.

I think the 2 pairs of holes directly below those circles might be the connection points for the off road hooks.

I think you are right. The two holes under it must be for the hook. Which means standard aftermarket hooks may not be used. This is from the video you are talking about.

They usually go on the subframe out front of the clip. This is true for conventional body on frame cars, who the fuck knows for these?

Long story short, buy the tow hooks.

Now that I have the option for $300, absolutely.
