I got the following email yesterday. It surprised me because it doesn’t feel like a customer-wide blast. Did everyone get this or is this sent in preparation for a delivery? I’m trying not to get my hopes up…

We’re excited to get you behind the wheel of your R1, and we’ve designed the purchasing and delivery process to be as smooth and seamless as possible.
You’ll soon be invited to our digital purchasing experience, in which you’ll be able to complete all the steps necessary to take ownership of your Rivian. To help you get ready, we’ve compiled a checklist of everything you’ll need to have on hand. As your delivery date approaches, keeping these items in mind will ensure you can purchase and receive your vehicle in the way that works best for you.

After you’re invited to begin the process, your Rivian Guide will also be available to help with any questions you have.
1. Trading In Your Vehicle
If you have a vehicle you’d like to trade-in, we’ll apply it as a credit toward your new Rivian during the digital purchasing experience. We accept most makes and models and will assign trade-in value based on market value, vehicle history and other information you give us. We’ll collect your trade-in vehicle on delivery day.

2. Financing Your Vehicle
Rivian Finance is a simple, integrated process that only takes minutes to complete. You can personalize your financing solution by adding home charging equipment, taxes and fees, and selecting the term, down payment and monthly payment that best fits your needs. You can apply and learn if you qualify in under 15 minutes during the digital purchasing experience.

3. Buying Insurance
You can purchase Rivian insurance directly from us, which means a more streamlined process as well as customized coverage that integrates with our connected vehicle platform to help keep premiums low. It can even cover off-road driving and Rivian Adventure Products you’ve purchased from us, and we can help customize your plan to provide the specific protection you need.

4. Installing Your Charger
If you’ve purchased a Rivian Wall Charger and would like help planning installation, we’ve partnered with Qmerit, a network of certified professionals who specialize in installing EV chargers at a competitive price. Fill out Qmerit’s installation questionnaire to obtain a free price estimate and get matched up with an installer near you. Please note you can also use your own licensed electrician for installation.

5. On Delivery Day
Make sure you download the Rivian app before delivery. You can then track your vehicle’s journey through the app and set it up upon arrival to use as a digital key. (You’ll receive your other Rivian keys, too.) To get better acquainted with your vehicle, you can ask a Rivian Field Specialist for a walkthrough on delivery day, or explore on your own time through a guided digital orientation.
