Wow! Another investor thread that went off the rails and had to have comments deleted. I’m not surprised.

To be clear, nothing is wrong with disagreeing with someone’s “opinion” or stance on Rivian. I welcome replies countering whatever I say, if the response includes reasoning, alternate opinions or objective facts and/or data. Sometimes it’s enlightening and I partially or fully agree with the counter response.

But, replying to people with name calling, saying their opinion is “dumb”, “stupid” or telling them to “ take a hike” or that they hate Rivian because they can’t afford one, will just solicit a similar snarky and insulting response.

I believe everyone on this forum likes Rivian and wants them to succeed. Nobody spending time here is rooting for their failure. Some are a lot more passionate about it than others. But I think it’s best to use words to enlighten as oppose to insult a different opinion.

If you don't want people to call your comments stupid, stop making stupid comments. Seems to be an easy solution to solving the problem.

Appreciate your comments and optimism, but there are definitely folks on this forum who are trolls and haters of EV's and Rivian.

Anyways, go Rivian!

Sadly the "investor threads" tend to bring the Tesla and short trolls out of the woodwork, which then stimulates untoward responses on both sides.

I encourage everyone to use the mute function liberally if you think someone is a troll. The best way to keep them under their bridge is to stop feeding them.

I second this sentiment. There are definitely trolls amongst us.

20-30 cybertrucks and only one Rivian? Really?
I haven’t seen that many cybertrucks and I live in the biggest metro area in the U.S.

Maybe you’ve seen the same three, multiple times.

I'm referring to different cities. Maybe the cybertruck sticks out but in the south where you see almost no EVs, the cybertruck is really obvious.

Rivian has not sold many and the people that buy them are EV owners.

The people buying the cybertruck are both EV owners and those who want something obnoxious

one thing of note is the dr parking lot at the hospital near me it is full of EVs. Porsche, mercedes, bmw, volkswagen, tesla, etc.

I think there are 3 cybertrucks alone.

There is not one rivian

In the south I've only ever seen a rivian once
I believe you.

So I was surprised this morning driving around the Little Egypt — the part of far southern Illinois that is culturally Kentucky/Arkansas — and saw two Rivs zero Cyber.

I also want to mention to those saying demand has topped that I live in a community that just got a nearby sales center (in N suburban Chicago) and that has had an impact. There are lots of places where Rivian hasn’t yet stimulated any demand.

how much of that is inventory?

Tesla made around 400K model Ys last year and they have produced them for 4 years now. I still only see maybe 2 or 3 a day but I don't live in atlanta. In atlanta they are of course very common.

They made 250K model 3s and I see hardly any refresh model 3s. I think I have seen 2 or 3
Do you live in a rural/small town area? I see 2-3 Rivians a day and can’t drive a mile without passing 2 Teslas going the other way.

they are black but you can guess that a certain demographic buys black cars and paints their home interiors black

To be fair there is 24 stalls of supercharger so I could see a rivian if I really wanted to

Come November, I will have had my R1T for 3 years. I drive in San Antonio very regularly. It was six months after I got it before I ever saw another Rivian on the road.

More common now, and I'm sure that the San Antonio Service Center (now open) will cause an uptick...that being said, I feel like we're overrun by CTs. Being 80 miles from their factory might have something to do with it, but I'm astounded at the number I've seen that were wrapped in something to hide the stainless steel...several black or dark gray...one last weekend near Austin had a "chameleon" wrap (or paint job). That must have been high $$.

Still waiting to see one done up in "Republic Waste Services Blue", but that would require a sense of humor that most Tesla owners seem to be lacking.

I did have the opportunity recently to ask a valet why there was a dumpster left in front of the PF Changs. All five people waiting in line at his kiosk laughed and high fived. Apparently, I'm not alone in my sentiments.

Well my comment is late since I only joined the forum recently upon putting down for a reservation for an R2, but here is my two cents.

Rivians delivery is honestly impressive from what they announced. Right now they have the following concerns:
-Tariffs threatening to raise the price of steel and aluminum
-Potential decrease in unemployment (62,000 federal employees as of two weeks ago over two months with thousands more being threatened which will trickle down to the private sector as the government is a big client to many businesses and closed agencies will harm businesses who rely on the government as a client which will lead to more layoffs)
-Possible increase in restraints against EVs or just the simple reduction of incentives in general
-Closing the factory for a month for the R2
-Trade wars and issues with our Allies
-Increasing competition

Out of all of these threats, the quick decrease in employment was not considered most likely, but the others were anticipated. As it is a month after the announcement, stocks as a whole has decreased, the political environment is uncertain almost all my family, friends, coworkers around me are saying they aren't spending money on anything, due to the anger at larger companies and fear of job loss. A slight decrease from last year seemed amazing to me and I have a feeling a lot of auto manufacturers are going to feel the decrease in sales this year.

That being said, I'm optimistic. Due to the boycotts, people are switching over to alternatives like Rivian and some are waiting for the R2 for an alternative to their MY or M3 as they can't spend the money required for an R1 or just want something a bit smaller. Rivian is even trying to pull in Fiskr owners. This year they are focused on increasing service centers to over 100 from their previous 43, and they're trying to build brand awareness.

Despite living in a metropolitan area, very few people know of Rivian where I live and has never heard of it, (though they might recognize the car when shown but didn't know the brand). Rivian still has to spread awareness on the East Coast outside of NY, Ohio, and Florida. Slowly, I am seeing more Rivians around me, but you have to remember that there are still a lot of people who do not know it exists. I didn't know it existed until June of 2024.

As for RJ as CEO, I probably wouldn't be such a big fan of Rivian without him. As a business major myself, I think he cautions on the side of realism, and I think Rivian tries to be as accurate as possible with the information they give us. His business plans make sense to me from a business perspective (I have an MBA) and does stumble and make some mistakes, but all companies do. His love and knowledge for engineering also make me feel better when it comes to quality control because he cares more about making a good car over a profit. I do think Rivian is still experimenting with which cost measures are worth it (cutting the amount of wires for example) vs ones that might hurt the brand (the door handles starting to feel cheap and creaky when you pull on them). I do sense that RJ tries to deliver on his promises as best as he is able. Trust is a huge thing with a company right now in a world where corporations make cheap promises all the time to either get your money now and never deliver or deliver a poor product or just to get hype and inflated stock. I also think RJ does the most to promote the brand talking to even small YouTubers and getting people excited about the brand because his enthusiasm comes off when he speaks. If he was forced out of Rivian, I'm not sure I'd consider the brand so strongly anymore.

In short, I think Rivian's projections for the upcoming year were to be as honest with their investors as possible. I think they sided on the side of caution when giving their numbers as to not inflate hope and get backlash later. It is possible Q1 may be higher than expected with boycotts, but if I were running the company, long term would be more important. Increased service centers, ensuring delivery and price of the R2, and more brand awareness should be their primary focus this year while maintaining interest in the brand, customer loyalty, and similar delivery numbers.

Feel free to disagree, just don't be rude when you do. :)
