PSA: New iPhone/iOS 18.1, can no longer set up Rivian key

Beating a dead horse. I’m on 18.1 beta and no issues with PAAK. Even had 18.1 on older 15 Pro, and migrated to the 16 Pro.

Make sure you have wiped all traces of the phone out of the Rivian, and all traces of the Rivian from the phone. Note that there are multiple Rivian BT devices that the phone sees. Do all that, reboot both (master on the Rivian), then try again.

Thanks! I did all that, but it was tricky to delete all traces of the phone from the Rivian, since you need an app. which has already been paired as a key to do that, and I lost mine in the transfer. So, I have learned the lesson to wipe first, set up new phone second.

This is the Way of Rivian: great for 99% of owners, poor for random 1%. My proximity unlock still randomly stops working, then starts working again. Distortion in a front passenger speaker is the same way; most of the time it isn’t there, 1% of the time it is. My rear touchscreen lost the ability to take input, then it came back again…

Waited a day and now it paired with my Google phone just like it did a year ago. Yea....it's a key again.

Add me to the list. iPhone 16 Pro. No beta software. PAAK worked for 2 weeks. Then stopped working. Support made me do all the things. Nothing worked. Now I have a service appt in November. Sigh.
