For a door hinged on the bottom, an upward slam is such an unnatural motion I'm surprised this is an issue. Maybe it's just because I'm tall and I have to lean down to close the doors, but I always soft close them and then push them until they click.

I have a dent on mine. It was like that from the factory and will hopefully get pdr done at my service appt in a month. I close mine softly and then use slight pressure at the top to click it closed.

To slam or not to slam? I'm confused. Also was told to slam at delivery to prevent hand indentation of door face.

I was told if you slam it too hard, your driver's side suspension will be clunky! LOL Maybe that's our problem!

I was surprised when people said they were slamming or "throwing" their doors. I tried it and it felt SO WRONG.

Gently close, then apply even pressure along the top edge to get the second "click". Feels right.
This is what I did the first time I got hands on a R1T, when I was creeping outside the Richmond SC. Someone who works there took pity on me and came out to unlock the loaner they had sitting there, and allowed me to open and close everything.

When I closed the gear tunnel doors, I did so gently and then pushed the last bit to the click. The guy opened the door back up and slammed it shut. I do it this way since I've got mine even though deep down, I am a two-step-to-close kinda guy.

My gear tunnel doors are still wonky after a sc visit. If I don’t slam the doors they don’t shut ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, if you have to ask if slamming is the right way, I'm telling you from experience of creasing my door, that it's not.

Based on my experiences with Richmond, if they showed you anything I would feel pretty confident that you should do the exact opposite.

I wish the gear tunnel doors operated like the the frunk where it sucks it right in.

In any case I've always been gentle with the gear tunnel doors due to how they're made. They reminded me of the frunk in a Tesla where you also have to be careful.

It's unfortunate design that slow press is remarkably difficult.

Also, the delivery specialist on day 1 specifically instructed me to slam it to close... Guess this isn't actually the intended method
My delivery specialist told us the same thing. He said to basically use your fingertips at the top of the door and slam it shut. He said people had been putting large dents in the doors trying to close them lower down or by pushing them shut.

I always slam mine since day 1 because if you do it in any other way it will leave a little gap no matter how much pressure you put into it. I will experiment again your PSA. Thanks.

That totally sounds like my dad. We also caught a royal hell if we drove his car and adjusted the mirrors (it'd be a case of "blah blah blah, and now I get in to go to work and my mirrors are all ---ed up) or flipped down the sun visor ("those things will never stay up if ya move them...").

Yep...he had his ways.
